After some life changing events in 1999, Geoff felt compelled to pick up his father's guitar and put his thoughts and words to music. His father taught him the basics; chords, strumming, simple theory, and showed him how to play the harmonica. In 1981, Geoff was born in a small town in Michigan called, Bad Axe, and it wasn't until 1986 when he met his future drummer, Joe Drossos, on the Bad Axe Elementary School playground. Here, he asked Joe if he could be his kickball teammate and also his friend, but found out that it was not going to be that easy. Instead, Joe challenged Geoff to a foot race to determine whether or not he could be his teammate and ultimately his friend. The race ended in a dead heat.In 2004, Geoff moved from Michigan to Boston to pursue a music career as he wanted to meet new people as enthusiastic as he was and encounter new inspirations. He quickly found what he was looking for and began writing music faster and better than ever before. In the spring of 2005, Joe moved to Boston, to start a band with Geoff. They found an apartment and transformed one of the rooms into their jam space. It only made sense to name the band, Bad Axe, after their hometown. In 2006, they met an experienced bass player from Salem, MA, named Dave Coleman, who brought good ideas, creativity, and an honesty that instantly tightened and elevated the band's potential.Geoff's strengths lie in his ability to write and sing songs that connect with honest, whole-hearted humans. He writes songs about love, hope, freedom, and moving forward. Joe's strengths lie in his raw and unorthodox approach to playing the drums as he utilizes his natural ability to learn a skill and then do great at it. The ladies are also quite fond of him as he can remove his shirt faster than most people can say, "Joey D, take your shirt off!" Dave's strengths lie in his overall musical knowledge and vision. His honesty and ear have developed from years of playing and recording music with talented musicians. Oh yeah, he also has a sweet tatoo and can play a mean bass guitar.Together, the band has a contagious charisma built around playing rock 'n roll with good beats, simple guitar, and catchy melodies. Bad Axe will give you hope and impel you to sing along. The sound will let your body groove and will leave you feeling like you just woke up from an incredible dream.
