Silence is Golden --- But Duct Tape is Silver!

About Me

My pirate name is: Dread Pirate Kidd
Like the famous Dread Pirate Roberts, you have a keen head for how to make a profit. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

About me is kinda hard to say. I can do anything, and I've done most things. Seriously. It's kinda scary.

I've done everything I ever wanted to do, pulled myself up from nothing, and made something of myself.

The weight is lifted from my shoulders.

I'd rather be neurotic and happy than sane and not.

I don't run in a circle --- it's more fun to run in circles.

Most everything is fun, and if it's not, then you probably didn't do it right.

I'm not a glass-half-empty or a glass-half-full kinda person. It's water --- drink up!

If you don't slide in the curves, you're not going fast enough....
--- Cale Yarbrough

What Your Underwear Says About You
When you're bad, you're very bad. And when you're good, you're still trouble!

Your ideal job: Gigolo. Or naked cowboy. The Underwear Oracle

Music:

There is no describing my musical tastes, other than to say they're all over the scale. 99% of Country & Rap are out --- I'll probably not even give it a listen, along with any Top 40 crap on the radio these days.

However, that said, the albums I find myself listening to the most are old Blue Note Herbie Hancock and Etta James , Queensryche's "Operation: Mindcrime," The Police "Synchronicity" and Nine Inch Nails "Pretty Hate Machine." Not exactly out of the mainstream in their time, but I still like 'em.

Movies:

I love Suspense/Thrillers --- Alfred Hitchcock and Orson Welles are my favourites. The best movie ever made is most definitely " Touch of Evil " (1959).

But it's not just old movies for me. The re-remake of Hitchcock's Pysho was freakin' brilliant --- who wouldda though Vince Vaughan could pull it off! Even The Usual Suspects kinda bounced on that Hitchcock nerve.

You still can't go wrong with good Epic ( Star Wars / Indiana Jones ), an interesting Foreign film ( Life is Beautiful / Amelie ) or a hilarious Comedy ( Friday / Full Metal Jacket / Goodfellas ). What, Full Metal Jacket isn't a comedy? Screw you hippies!

Television:

My television is a requisite part of my home theatre system.

Books:

I like reading in general, and have a lot of books. Now, quite a lot is reference material (software development, etc.) but I enjoy a lot of macabre like Clive Barker and H. P. Lovecraft . A bit of Douglas Adams and Robert Fulghum never go amiss, either.

The last thing I read was " The Historian " --- interesting story line, but all in all one of the most boring reads since Lord of the Rings (ooooh, sacrilege!).

Heroes:

Nelson Mandela --- that guy went through a ton of shit, and he's still an humble pacifist.

Past that ... Bill Gates. Jimmy Stewart. George W. Bush. Blame the antidisestablishmentarist in me, but I know damn well that if they can do it, so can I.
