If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth

About Me

My name is Jason Guilbault. I work at Addiction NYC Tattoos (27 St Mark's, between 2nd and 3rd Ave, right next to the Sock Man, ph..212-420-1313, website: addictionnyctattoos.com) I've been tattooing since early '01, in a few different places, Mass., rural Penn., and New Orleans. Tattooing came to me later than most artists, I've done a lot of other things for work before this, while trying to be a traditional artist at the same time. Now I've got both...and now I couldn't imagine doing ANYTHING else. It's my life and my job.-------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------------------------Wi th this site I'm trying to show a little of the everyday things I go through. Stories, lame and great... Sketches, so you can see rough to polished; and also so you can see how a simple idea can blow up into something completely fucking dope. (I also love the sketches behind a completed piece. Some artists let you see some of this, most don't. It's the same way in art, think of DaVinci's sketches...they're great in their own right, even the little notes and thumbnails that he just jotted down. But they're the behind the scenes kind of thing that allows you to appreciate the finished work so much more.)------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------I'm also tring to drum up some interest with people for the tattoos I'd like to do, but don't always find someone who's interested in the same things as I am. You gotta admit, the client coming in for a small butterfly probably isn't going to have much enthusiasm for the possessed carnival carousal sleeve I've been screwing around with. So I hope you're out there looking for me the same as I'm looking for you. For everybody else, just browse around, I think there's some cool shit here to be seen, and maybe you'll learn something you didn't know before and it'll make you appreciate tattoos just a little bit more

My Interests

Tattoos and making art. I don't get off my ass as much as I used to, but when I did I loved to kayak, go surf casting for some big 'ole stripers, get out in the woods. I've got a serious flea-marketing affliction. And beleive or not, I like to make lamps out of junk, pendant lamps that hang from the ceiling, mostly ones for the boudoir. You know all red lights, and intricate patterns and old glass. Set up that decadent sexy mood for rippin' bodices. Maybe I'll put up a pic sometime. Of the lamps, not the sex, you perv.

I'd like to meet:

Well, shit, it's you I'd like to meet. If you're here we share a common intrest. But really...people enthusiastic about tattoos, other tattooists, and just plain old gawkers. I'll shoot the shit with anybody about anything really...

Music:

Just about anything is game for me. I really like old junky street jazz and funky bluegrass.

Movies:

Sci-Fi. Cartoons (I watch Invader Zim almost daily and never get tired of it). Me and my Dad used to go and see every Arnold Schwarzenegger movie as soon as it came out. Tim Burton has blown me away with every movie (except charlie and the chocalate factory).

Television:

I am a Law and Order addict, I should join a self help group or something....really.

Books:

My Art books are #1. Historical fiction. I really like to read about the places I'm at. Since being in New York City, I've read and liked "the Mole People" (even though I think the facts it's supposed to be based on are way made up. It's a cool idea though). Stacks and stacks of Sci-Fi. Mythology, although I'm not a religious person.Sometimes I think god hates me, just joking...kind of.

Heroes:

Underdogs. People who overcome the odds. People who come from nothing and build themselves into something.
