My Interests

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I find most things interesting, sometimes frighteningly so, which has lead to an addiction to Wikipedia. I admit I have a problem and am currently attending support groups in an attempt to curtail my insatiable curiosity.

I'd like to meet:

Mae West- I need to understand why Sextette was ever made.

Music:

The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Coral, The Cure, Pulp, The Jam, The Undertones, QOTSA, The Stranglers, Small Faces, Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens, Joy Division, Foo Fighters, Weezer, Belle & Sebastian, The Strokes, James, Dexy's Midnight Runners, RHCP, The Kinks, The Zutons, The Clash, David Bowie, ELO, William Shatner (you just haven't lived until you've heard his rendition of Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds), Leonard Nimoy (ditto with his incredible cover of I'd Love Making Love To You- I haven't seen the world in the same way since), Thin Lizzy, Radiohead, The Smiths, Nirvana, countless 60s and 70s compilations...I like lots of random songs, particularly those that the ill informed would class as abysmal (Cliff 'God' Richard, the Hoff, Men Without Hats, Russ Abbott etc etc...)

Movies:

Though others may shake their heads incredulously, I am not ashamed to admit that I am a connoiseur of B Movies: films like the Abominable Doctor Phibes and Evil Dead II can keep me cackling for hours. Apart from these dubious choices, my other chosen titles are a bit more mainstream. Favourites include Edward Scissorhands, The Shining, Being There, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Wicker Man, The Producers (the original), Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Dougal and the Blue Cat, Don't Look Now, Donnie Darko, The Birds, Back to the Future, Harold and Maude, Monty Python and the Holy Grail/Life Of Brian, Hercules in New York, There's Something About Mary, Ma Vie En Rose, classic Disney, Naked Gun, Little Miss Sunshine, Back to the Future, Sextette etc...

Television:

The Fast Show, Peep Show, Green Wing, the Office, Father Ted, Phoenix Nights, Frasier, Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, Brass Eye, Blackadder, Have I Got News For You, QI, classic kids tv shows (they were so much better in my day...), Big Cook Little Cook (thanks Pench!), retro gameshows (in the vein of Bullseye, the Krypton Factor, Takeshi's Castle, The Adventure Game and the Crystal Maze), obscure shock docs that no one else would admit to watching, A Place in Greece/ Spain, Greg and Max's Cookabout, the daytime tv Bermuda Triangle (namely Neighbours, Doctors, Diagnosis Murder/Murder, She Wrote- so many hours have been lost this way),Desperate Housewives, 24, Lost, the Simpsons, Family Guy, Mr Rogers' Neighborhood, Krtek (the Little Mole), Raven etc...

Books:

To Kill A Mockingbird, 1984, A Clockwork Orange, The Blind Assassin, The Handmaid's Tale, Cain, Moby Dick, Waterland, Notes From a Small Island, Being There, White Teeth, Roadside America, Gullible's Travels, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Fly Fishing by J.R Hartley...

Heroes:

This is why I never use MySpace!

There is no telling when inspiration will strike, and today that rare spark came as I vegetated in front of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. As Leatherface set about adorning ...

Plumbing the depths of mediocrity (sorry this is the same as facebook)

Every institution has one; a person so unspeakably boring that they could send a glass eye to sleep. Mr Arundale possessed this gift, and whilst he droned on about ratios, tiles in a pool and the numb...

Blog neglect

I haven't written on here in what seems like an age. Since last posting on here 3 months ago, I, amongst other things, acquired a full time job, rose to the dizzying heights of practice...

Call me Ishmael

I cannot believe how this year has flown. It doesn't seem five minutes since I was lugging my worldy goods up the stairs in a Tena Lady box, panicking not only about my unfortunate container, but ...

SECURE PARKING MY ARSE!!!

Some bastard has tried to break into my car!!! They'd managed to bend back the top of the door, leaving a sizeable gap and a soaked front seat covered in leaves.  Miraculously...

HUZZAH HURRAH AND HOORAY- EXAMS ARE FINALLY OVER! OK, so I've only had 3 exams this semester, but it feels like I've been revising the Basic Perinatal Matrix alone for an eternity. Rounded o...

Eureka!

Huzzahs all round-I've finally managed to customise MySpace! My previous attempts at this were feeble to say the least, and for some unknown reason left a large blank patch in the middle of the page. ...

My first (and probably last) blog entry

Salutations and welcome to my first blog entry! Unlike some people on here who lead incredibly exciting lives, filled with derring do and mild peril, mine is a fairly docile existance which ...
