Aphrosoul presents "Homage"

"Dressed2Sweat" began as a monthly gathering of deep music lovers who express that love through dance on Thursday, December 21, 2000 in Houston, TX. Dressed2Sweat was founded by Aphrosoul under his then moniker Underground Soul. The concept was 2 rooms, 6 DJ's, deep music, and alotta sweatin'. The original DJ lineup was DJ's Chicken George, Melodic, & RV spinning true hip hop, reggae dub, downtempo, & intelligent drum & bass in the first room. DJ's DaSoul, Rocky B, and Dressed2Sweat founder Aphrosoul were were spinning garage classics, deep house, & tribal beats in the second room. The gathering also featured local artists giving a 30 minute performance. Since then Aphrosoul has relocated to Atlanta, GA & Underground Soul has envoled into Aphrosoul Productions (check www.myspace.com/aphrosoul for full bio). The DJ lineup has evolved also as well as the addition of his partner, dancer/manager/promoter/host Sonya McGill. The music has evolved to include African, Caribbean, Latin, & Brazilan elements. The name has evolved from "Dressed2sweat" to "Homage" to reflect Aphrosoul's continuous evolution, spiritually and musically. Also the gathering has moved from 3rd Thursday of the month to 3rd Saturday of the month. And what make this gathering unique to the city of Atlanta is the fact that no alchohol will be sold, only bottled water, gaterade, and energy drinks along with snack foods will be available to help keep the energy going. Mix CD's and t-shirts will be sold as well.
