The best of both worlds- analog and digital: Track to analog tape for the fat sound. Transfer the tracks to the computer for editing and overdubs. Send the tracks out of the DAW for mixing/summing and use all the great sounding analog compressors and equalizers as well as the awesome sounding mix buss of the analog console...or do the whole thing in the computer if that's what you're into.
