About Me

I'm a Rockin Londoner through and through. I've travelled a bit but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. I even get excited if I see clips of London on the TV or films, especially old ones.I'm a slave to my wardrobe. Nuff said on that subject.I've had 30 year love hate relationship with Rock n Roll, since I first snuck into the Lyceum Ballroom aged 13. I'll go anywhere that plays Rock n Roll but I like the company of other Teds for a good laugh and they know how to treat a lady! I'm also a real sucker for a nice suit. So I end up travelling outside town to my preferred gigs but not often enough. I'm waiting to pass my driving test for that! Still when it comes to choice you can find something something to go to almost every week in town. I like the Hillbilly Hop run by my mate Leo, Virginia Creepers and dirty ol' Dingwall's on a Sunday afternoon when it ocassionally happens. Also the Boston although you can usaully mop the floor with me by the time I come out of there!I LOVE jiving but I run a mile if anyone tries to Charleston or do those daft swing bits with me. Teddy girls don't Charleston mate!My greatest claim to rockin fame is appearing (aged 15) on the front cover of the album, Rock n Roll is still Alive. It features a group of Teds (see my photos) including Sunglasses Ron Staples and was the live recording of the gig that followed the 1976 Teds march through London. 1-2-3-4 listen to the Teddyboys ROAR!!!

My Interests

50s and 60s music, collecting vintage clothes, dancing, photography, some art (a bit cynical in this area) and getting drunk on a Saturday night....oh alright getting drunk on any old night!

I'd like to meet:

I'm open to meeting all kinds of people, but being into Rock n Roll helps; other Teddy girls - not many of us you see; people outside the London scene to share gig and weekender info with. People who like wild times on the dance floor. Can't be bothered with cool - gimme laughs any day! Also Albert Finney circa 1960!

Music:

A big love is British Rock n Roll. Especially Cliff, Billy Fury, Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, Shane Fenton, Tony Crombie, some Tommy steele,The Flying Saucers (if only cos Sandy Ford is such a gent!) and,of course, the gods of Teddyboy rock Crazy Cavan n the Rhythm Rockers! But I'm also a big fan of Jerry Lee, Little Richard and Gene Vicent. Ha-ha! saying that my all time favourite record is 'I'm Ready' by Fats Domino. Play it at my funeral please.

Movies:

Number one is Saturday Night Sunday Morning,The Last Picture Show and American Graffitti because that's where it all started for me. Carry on Films, Brazil, Clockwork Orange, Performance,The Girl Can't Help it, Get Carter, Alfie (with Micheal Caine) To Sir With Love, Brighton Rock, Peeping Tom and everything directed by Powell and Pressburger. Walk the line was pretty good apart from the bloke who played Jerry Lee (where'd they get that one from?)Sponge Bob the Movie.

Television:

The 6-5 Special, The Singing Ringing Tree, Only Fools and Horses, Sponge Bob (I spend more time dressing up than watching TV)

Always have one the on the go: All time favourites Wuthering Heights (I've read this at least eight times since my teens)and Saturday Night, Sunday Morning. Recently read: The Life of Pi, Hey Nostradamus, Man and Boy (why oh why?) Sylas Marner, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night, The Constant Sinner by May West, Girlfriend in a Coma. General favourites authors: J.G. Ballard, Martin Amis, Angela Carter and I love Charles Dickens

Heroes:

My Mum - she's unbelievable! Mae West. Shelley Winters in Alfie.
