FOREMOST - CLASSICAL / EMO/ HIP HOP/ ELECTRONICA:
Legacy(vox/production),
Prophecy(vox/production),
Bishop(Production).
All tracks written and produced by Foremost.
Foremost formed in 2004 after vocalists/ producers Legacy (21 yrs) and Prophecy (21yrs) met in the later years of High School and decided to combine their individual projects.
Drawn together by their passion for original music and hip hop, the two set out to create an original sound which would intertwine with their introspective lyrical writing style.
Having diverse musical backgrounds including involvement in hip hop, heavy metal, electronic and classical projects, Foremost realised they were creating something truly unique which had not been heard in the mainstream market.
It was at this point they approached a mutual friend producer/sound engineer Bishop. Bishop who has a multifaceted musical background over a number of projects including film, shared their vision of creating lyrical and musical imagery.
After a few late night sessions in their home studios it was evident that the three had an undeniable chemistry. They joined forces and began to develop their sound further, taking the basic hip hop formula and turning it into an epic musical formula all of its own.
As the music developed so did the lyrical content. Lyrically the songs became an almost cathartic experience for the two vocalists as they mapped life's highway drawing on some of their own experiences and those of their peers.
With lyrics both confronting and revealing, Foremost scripted every song with complete honesty and observational insight, covering controversial issues such as current politics and depression. This aspect of their music was almost non-existent in the hip-hop genre.
In mid 2005 Foremost began recording a 4 track EP which highlighted the combination of their raw lyrics and incomparable sound which featured the songs Loyalty, Break, Help Through and Between Yesterday and Tomorrow (Available on iTunes soon).
In 2006, Foremost did a string of shows performing at venues including Federation square and the Hi-Fi bar in Melbourne. Amid their growing popularity Foremost received interest from a major record label in the U.S. which had come across the group online and were eager to see and fund a performance.
Wanting every aspect of their vision to be perfect Foremost began preparation for their international debut. However to the bands misfortune shortly before they were due to head stateside the venture was indefinitely postponed.
It was at this point Foremost realised the best way to pursue their goals would be to take control of their own destiny and turned their attention to strengthening their knowledge of the industry, increasing their loyal fan base and composing new material.
Currently Foremost are on the eve of the release of their debut album. Three years of creative development has brought them to this album comprising totally original material, including guest appearances from 5 talented vocalists. Of the 14 songs carefully chosen from their expansive repertoire, the music is of epic proportions, orchestral theatrics combined with the hard hitting hip hop beats fuelled by electronic undertones. The lyrics are filled with a sense of purpose. Independently written, composed, recorded and produced Foremost are now getting ready for commercial airplay and mass media coverage as they set out to promote their debut album.
