About Me

I've been known to get in some trouble. Liquor's been known to assist.
I can't believe how long it's been since I updated this myspace...
Love to travel & planning my next trip. I've been to Europe, Australia, and Central America, and if I could spend the rest of my life on a sailboat cruising islands and snorkelling, it wouldn't be the worst way to live. How does a girl get a gig like that? I hardly get to go anywhere anymore - the drawback of being an adult with a job in management, I guess. How the hell did that happen, anyway?
I'm a live music junkie... well, really I'm an any music junkie ... but I'm partial to live music because you can taste it. My greatest regret is being born without musical genius. That or good hair.
I'm inexplicably addicted to Justin Timberlake right now. I hope it passes.
I'm pretty silly a lot of the time, mostly because I believe you can find the humor in pretty much any situation. Lately, you'll find the humor watching me try to play softball. Loving the war wounds, though. All of a sudden I'm bad-ass.
My days lately have been spent launching a new magazine project for work, and decorating my new apartment, which I am in love with. Getting into gardening, or at least trying to keep plants alive. (Good lord, how old am I??) Possibly warmup to a pet or a child? Or.... not so much.
I'm very passionate and touchy feely, I like good dark beers and vodka sodas, and I'm always up to go watch a game. Especially if it's college football/hoop, Kings hockey, or a Dodger game (but only in person because baseball on TV is la-hame). If you play a sport, just tell me where and when, and I'll come cheer you on.
I also used to like ducks a lot. This one is pretty cute. You can feed him bread. He likes that. He also likes to do draw-rings, but he's got no opposable thumbs.
Simon needed a friend, so I got him a monkey.

My Interests

movies, music, books, outdoor frolicking, kickball!, indoor frolicking, peoplewatching, cheese, spellcheck, hockey, orange (the color more so than the fruit).

Also, I'm addicted to this game: http://media....com/squares.swf

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who's not an a-hole and who won't call me at 3am to drive to TJ to bail them out of a Mexican jail. As a joke. Because they knew I'd go. True story.

Barring that... you - if you don't take yourself too seriously and aren't a whiny stick in the mud.

I come with references. ;)

Music:

My iPod has 4200 songs on it, and I probably know every lyric to about 95% of them. I was once on Rock and Roll Jeopardy. I like pretty much any kind of music you can think of, as long as it has a melody. (I don't generally go for techno, trance, or house music because it is the same "melody" over and over for half an hour).

Tops on my list is cheezy 70's pop, 80's semi-hair bands, grunge, old school west coast rap, boy bands, and, when i'm being serious... beatles, mozart, elton, elvis (either one), willie nelson, nirvana, sting, good live acoustic rock (a la DMB)... anything that's not crap, really - or is at least crap in good fun.

Movies:

This movie is awesome. charlie the unicorn

princess bride, stand by me, godfather, braveheart, ocean's 11, philadelphia story, to kill a mockingbird, LOTR ... the list is way too long

Television:

I'm a chick. I like Grey's Anatomy and Brothers & Sisters. But I also like Lost & Heroes. Don't make me choose between Hell's Kitchen and Top Chef. Thanks to TIVO I can watch 2 hours of American Idol in 40 minutes. I am going to have to break down and get HBO because I love Entourage and Flight of the Conchords... unless they put them on the Internet. How hot would that be?

Books:

Authors, people... too many books. I was a Lit major for chrissaskes...

Salinger, Steinbeck, Hemingway, Melville, Fitzgerald, Bukowski - to name a few. Also, in spite of my chosen focus on American authors, I love Nick Hornby and will read anything he releases for the rest of my life. Same goes for Bill Bryson, whose books on travel, science and history are fantastic! I joined a book club with some friends to get me reading other things, and all it's done is make me feel "behind in my reading" again, which is no good. On my nightstand: "Don't Know Much About History", mostly because I can't even remember who won the Spanish-American war, and "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," one of whom I currently am not. I am also addicted to THE WEEK, a digest of US and World news. I try not to be more than a week behind, but I usually am.

Heroes:

Is SUCH a great show. I really especially love the guy who can walk through walls. My heroes have always been cowboys, and they still are, it seems. Ok, in all seriousness ... My mom, for doing the single parent thing... and I guess Oprah and Madonna for their take on the world attitude, although I think they're both wacko and cultish.
