Millard Fillmore began in early 2006 as a rock band who quickly became highly identifiable with the post-rock scene with influences such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Explosions in the Sky.
The group is mostly instrumental, using guitars, basses, and drum kits to create vivid, multi-sensory soundscapes that almost allow you to detach yourself from reality and walk through a dream. Their minimalist live show, in almost total darkness, focuses on extending their quasi-meditative sound to pierce the inner core of the participants in the experience.
This group stands out in the post-rock scene due to it’s upbeat, uplifting sound, whereas most groups of similar genre characteristics are very dark and often labeled apocalyptic.
Thanks for listening.
