Inspired by his fathers love of the genre while growing up, coupled with strong influences from bands such as CCR, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and Supertramp, it was only natural for McNicoll to develop this love of classic rock into his own version of a day job. In fact, it wasnt long after learning the songs by heart that McNicoll headed up his first band dubbed Mr. Deltoid and began to frequent Montreals local circuit.
Mr. Deltoid attracted their own legion of fans, attracted both by their unique twists on rock classics as well as something else
That something else was McNicoll, and soon Stephan found himself to be a household name with a ravenous fan base for his sultry vocals and on-stage charisma. It was this realization of success a dream turning to reality that forced McNicolls hand to take the next step and venture on to a solo project.
This leap saw McNicoll playing more than 150 shows, writing and testing his own material, selling indie-made CDs off-stage and premiering a video on MusiquePlus and Much Music. All the hard work and avoidance of the typical rock redux plaguing so many artists today brings Canada to what we experience now in the present day the release of Contradictions of Life (Nevada/KOCH Entertainment).
As for the future, there are two things certain.
..1: Montreal knows, loves and supports Stephan McNicoll...2: Its now only a matter of time before the rest of the country is turned on by his sight and sound.
