About Me

I am an open minded, passionate yet easy-going guy who avoids drama and the people who cause it. However, drama seems to follow me for some reason… take a chill pill kids life goes by too fast :-).I love travel – especially to warm beaches and to Russia. I have traveled across Russia by train from St. Petersburg to Siberia teaching dance and felt very connected there and have made some very good friends. Good friends are hard to come by…I was an actor/athlete who was dragged into a college dance class kicking and screaming at age 18. Before I was 20 I had my first professional dance job – thanks David H. Bell and Karen McWilliams. I danced professionally for 10 years (ballet, jazz, & modern) until I ruptured a disc and had to hang up the shoes after back surgery. Now I teach and choreograph all over the world. I love what I do so much I gave up making a lot more money doing something else (photography after I first stopped dancing) to do what I really feel passionate about.I feel strongly about living with passion and taking risks. Life is a strange and complex journey with many mysteries and adventures. If you don’t risk you will miss so many adventures. If you don’t risk you will never reach what you strive for. And if you reach it – risk again….

Heroes:

My Dad, Nureyev, Baryshnikov, My sons.My Dad – his military photography was displayed in the Smithsonian in the 60’s. He taught many photographers around the world including me, AND he trained the first person that photographed me as a professional dancer…Nureyev – I saw his film version of “Don Q” when I first started taking class (once a week) and decided to become a double major in dance and theatre (instead of just a theatre major). When I was dancing professionally in LA he was on tour performing “Romeo & Juliet” with the Boston Ballet. They had some injuries and I received a call to dance in the production… I turned it down. If I could only turn back the clock and redo that one!Baryshnikov – I saw him perform Albrecht right after his defection (when I was an actor who danced) and decided to pursue dancing professionally because of his performance. A few years later in LA I was in dance class dancing next to him while he was on tour. My sons Edward III and David - They had me as a dad and turned out OK – gotta admire them!
