I am here for Friends

About Me

Hey! Matt here. Here is some info on me:
I went to St Olaf for a while but didn't like it enough to stay for two more years. I am not missing school at all.
My family lives in Chaska, my hometown. My family is: My parents, my 2 younger sister, my younger brother, our dog Tobie, a cat, and our bird Alfalfa.
I drive an Acura Integra.
I enjoy: working out, sleeping in, watching movies, chillin' with friends (& strangers),eating good food, running my business, traveling, thinking big, living a healthy lifestyle, being optimistic, relaxing, the ocean, and driving fast cars. :)
I refuse to settle for an average, mediocre life of going to college, getting a job, working for 50 years, retiring on a small income, living in a little house, and driving a buick
I will be rich, I will not have a job forever (will retire young), I will travel the world many times (and in style), I will have a beach house, I will take good care of my wife and family, I will give millions of dollars away every year (To Christian humanitarian organizations which are statistically far more effective than secular ones), and I will travel to space some day. And I'll be having a blast the whole time!
I like hanging out with people, as well as spending some time alone. I know how to get things done but I also know how to relax. (There is a time for everything!)
I currently live in a sweet apartment in Minnetonka. I have a fireplace and my own washer and dryer!
Right now I work downtown during the day and am an entrepreneur with my business at night. I'm on track to be retired and financially set for life before I'm 30. :-) After that I will move onto things that are more important to me than work and money. One example is that I want to be a missionary that can support myself (& family) and build churches with my own money rather than having to ask churches to sponsor me so that I don't starve while I'm in the missions field.
As far as "religion" goes, I am a Christian but I'm not all about the habitual mindless activities that go on in lots of churches. For example: Go every week, stand up, chant some stuff, sing a song, don't smile, pretend you're always happy just to impress your church friends, etc. I do love and know Jesus and believe that Christianity is about a relationship, not a religion. It's not just something my parents do- it's the core of my life.
I don't think that I am better than anyone. I believe that everyone is awesome deep down and created to succeed. There are many ways that people can get stuck somewhere. Some are: They may get complacent with life and not want to change or improve themselves anymore. Or they might have been told a lie at some point and then believe it the rest of their lives even though it's not true! For example: "You're bad at math", "You're a loser", "You're ugly", or something like that.
I don't even know you and I already know that you are capable of more than you think.
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp -Cool Quotes-

"Evil prevails when good men do nothing."
"Whether you think you can or can't, you're usually right."
"The world sees you exactly how you see yourself."
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat. " -Theodore Roosevelt
"Never settle for the crumbs of life."
"You can do anything you want, but you can't do everything you want"
"What you can tolerate, you won't change."
"What a boring place the world would be if we were all the same and perfect."
"Loneliness is not from lack of affection, it's from lack of direction"

My Interests

All sorts of things! I dig traveling. Also chillin with the fam & friends, watching movies, hangin out at the beach, working out, listening to music, eating, playing sports, going on thrill rides, & doing stuff most other college aged people like to do. Some day I will go skydiving too!

I'd like to meet:

God knows.

Music:

I love music. Here are some of my favorites:
Switchfoot, Good Charlotte, Mercy Me, Incubus, Third Day, PC3, Maroon 5, Yellowcard, Third Eye Blind, Reliant K, Skillet, Pillar, P.O.D., Newsboys, Shane & Shane, Casting Crowns, and many more...

Movies:

A couple of my favs: The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, The Patriot, Meet Joe Black (made me cry), Napoleon Dynomite, Harry Potter, Hitch, The Bourne Identity & Supremacy, Pirates of the Carribean, Star Wars, Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail, Batman Begins, and lots more.

Television:

Hellavision? Sex, violence, liberal propoganda, etc. aren't things I like to fill my head with. Also, some of the game shows now are so stupid that I am shocked adults sit there and watch it. Deal or no deal should be played in a kindergarden classroom, not used to entertain intelligent adults."Vodka did to the Rusesians what T.V. is doing to the Americans."I admit, however, that I do watch National Geographic, Discovery, and Animal Planet from time to time to some cool places that I want to travel to some day. I'll also catch a bit of a Vikings game a couple times per season if I'm with my family or some friends. (Even though we lose a lot, they're still my fav team!)

Books:

I used to find reading boring. Then I heard some people who I respect a lot say "Where you will be in the next five years will be determined by the books that you read and the people who you associate with."
So now I do read a lot of books on business, psychology, sucess, Christianity, and leadership. I saw this on a hill in Mexico once:
"La Biblia es la verdad. Lee lo." -I do, and I couldn't agree more! ("That means 'The Bible is the truth, read it!" in spanish)

Heroes:

Jesus, people in the military (like my friend Chris Cox), my dad, George Bush, Matt Grotewold, Jake Magnuson, Kenneth Copeland, and last but not least: SpongeBob square pants.
