About Me
Born a small town Texas boy, going into music was predestined. Grandmother 1 played fiddle for barn dances, street dances, and church socials. Grandmother 2 was “Grand Organist†for Eastern Star. My dad played piano in bars and clubs during college and my mom, her sister and brothers sang anywhere and everywhere. My baby sister was an award winning concert pianist by age 9. Going to church was mandatory and singing in choir headed me toward the harmony vocals I use today.

Moving to Fort Worth, Texas, at an early age moved my interests from Country and Western music to Rock and Roll. At 12, after surviving a serious illness, my mom and dad bought me an electric guitar to occupy my time while I recovered. Even with an amplifier, the music wasn’t loud enough. But practice, practice, practice was what I did. Even a couple of neighbor kids brought guitars over and helped teach me what Mel Bay couldn’t. Next, somehow, I acquired a set of drums.

Now, at 14, I had fallen in with a couple of Fort Worth “Teen Scene†bands and was playing teen clubs like “Teen-a-Go Go,†“The Box,†the “Hungry Eye,†and “The Green Onion.†I even played with an old school mate, Jackie Newhouse, who wound up playing bass for SRV’s Double Trouble band. It was the 60’s and the 60’s were happening. Music, especially rock and roll, was reinventing itself every week. By 18, I was fried…in more ways than one, if you get my drift. So, I quit the band and the business, sold my drums, and tried to put my life back together. I went back to my guitar and my roots of country music but only for my own enjoyment.

Trying to grow up and be responsible just wasn’t happening. Several marriages and live-in’s, two beautiful children, and a several years spent as a Law Enforcement Officer (I know, no one else believed it, either), I was ten feet tall and bullet proof and trying to prove it on a regular basis. I was single and living fast. Then I met Sandi…my soul mate, my love, my best friend, and my wife for the past 18 years.

Through a mutual fishing buddy, I met Wade Hatton. Wade and I played guitars and sang together with a couple of excellent guitarists, Kent Dekour and Dirk Hardy. One day Wade asks if I thought I could play bass to add some bottom end. Two Cd’s later; Wade and I are invited to play at a Texas Music Nation Celebration by Brett Watts, a childhood friend of Wade’s. It was all Texas music by Texas artists and I was in heaven. Here is where I met Bodie Powell. After hearing us play, Bodie commented and encouraged me on my bass playing and singing and even invited me to sit in on a couple of acoustic gigs to play bass and sing a little harmony. Now, Bodie couldn’t run me off. Also, I’m part of the Texas Music Nation family and damn proud of it.

Special thanks to Wade and Brett for getting me back into music. And special, special thanks to Bodie for keeping me there…on stage… where I’m happiest.
Look, Bodie, I found f-sharp!!Layout made by
