About Me

Life is a funny thing and the phrase " what a difference a year makes" has never rung more true for me. 2007 was definitly an intense year that changed my life forever. I upped and left my posh flat in Baltimore (yes they exist), my cosy well paid job being bankrolled by dodgy Central Asian businessmen, and the great American lifestyle to move back to the UK. Love makes you do crazy things sometimes, even emigrate from the US.In January '07 I was planning events for corrupt Kazak billionaires, travelling the world on their credit card and doing shots of Jaeger at hip bars in Baltimore with my mates. By the end of the year I was living in central Birmingham ( England, not Alabama), working as a defence journalist while watching Gordon Brown's government crumble before my eyes and drinking pints of Cornish beer at the local pub with a South African and a bunch of chavs.

My Interests

British culture, Parliamentary politics, reading, current events, international affairs, working out, and watching sports- especially the Ravens and O's.

I'd like to meet:

Brummies, Royal Holloway Alumni, people who can hold a stimulating conversation, American Ex-Pats, NFL fans and people who are looking forward to 01/20/09!

Music:

Mainly alternative rock from the 90's. Green Day, AIC, Nirvana and Rancid. Old school Metallica as well,pre-2000.

Movies:

Anything that makes you think for days after you saw the film.

Television:

BBCNEWS, Little Britain, 24, LOST, Family Guy because of its rejection of American culture and values.

Books:

"Heart of Darkness", "1984", "Master and Margarita", " The Master of Ballentrae". "The Old Curiosity Shop"

Heroes:

H.L. Mencken, Mr. Kurtz, Cynics.
