About Me

Kenneth Macy III
Macy is an astounding songwriter. His music is like turning on a bright light inside your mind, casting enlightenment into long-ignored shadows in the listeners’ mind. Though-provoking, soulful and passionate, Macy’s music is expressive and potent and leaves listeners breathless wherever he goes. Macy describes his music as “rock and blues, mixed with soul, folk and ballads, mixed with truth.” An apt description from a talented artist.
Binding
There are many things that bind us all but music is perhaps the most powerful. “Music is life,” says Macy. And he’s right .Outside the human spirit itself, what else is there besides music that embodies the full depth of emotion and intelligence that is man? “We’re all tied together with one song that goes on forever,” says Macy. He goes on to proclaim a kinship with all artists. Music is a connector on many levels. “It’s as though artists are patches on a quilt called music.” Macy recognizes this element of music and attempts with each song to truly communicate with the audience. He especially loves the live performance, a context that allows for the most intimate of connection. “When the stage lights hit and the crowd is ready to go … there’s nothing like performing live. It’s the best feeling in the world.” Macy wants his fans to feel the way he does when his most cherished music plays. “When you hear your favorite song it grabs you from the start to finish and makes you feel a joy that can’t be explained by words.”
Truth
A vital key to the artistic accomplishment represented by Macy’s canon of music is an embracing of truth. His music entertains but is also about message and every song is a conveyor on some sublime level of philosophical honesty. “My main philosophy with music is this: Just like anything else in life, music comes from the truth and from the soul. You can’t fake soul. If you stand up for what you believe in and you’re honest with yourself, you have already become successful no matter what it is you do. Music reflects what we’re all thinking and feeling.”
On the Line
Part of the honesty of Macy’s songcraft – part of its intimacy – is Macy’s willingness to expose his innermost soul, to entrust his fellow man with personal realities. “When someone puts their heart out on the line and bares their soul, you start to see what’s real and what’s great about people.” Which brings us to hope. Hope is something else you’ll find thriving in Macy’s songs. Life is nothing without hope. And music.
Accomplishments
The year 2002 saw the completion of Macy’s solo CD “Beginnings”, written and performed by Macy. A television special was recorded in 2003 and his “Beginnings” album was utilized in the film “Equator” in 2004. A second solo disc, “What If …”, was completed this year (2006) and again features all original compositions fusing a variety of styles. A loaded schedule of performances is on the books for Macy. He is currently working with A&R Select, the leading independent A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
Final Message
“I have played in several bands over the years and I have performed in many places. Live performances are where I shine. I am easy-going, carefree but determined to make music my career. I am a hard worker and I enjoy what I do: playing music to anyone, anywhere. I also started out in hockey before I played music. I was determined to be a hockey player, but music took me over at 13. I saw a guitar in the window and I knew that that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I would always listen to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” before hockey games because it would get me pumped up for the game. I guess music was always in me but it took me a while to discover it. I also enjoy meeting new people and finding out who they are and what they want to be.”
Review
“Macy makes excellence seem easy (even though we know it’s not).” – A&R Select
