conflict, gifted and talented, community nuances, music, nazis, graduate schools on the west coast, how things are always lost in communication, social and economic classes in the us, birth order, gender and social gender roles and expectations, learning from people with experience, fine wine, dark beer, and top notch tequila, world politics and human suffering, history, volleyball.
meet and revisit. hobos with phd's. intellects who work at co-ops. people who understand the weight of their words. men who aren't afraid to be called a feminist, women who refuse to be called a feminist because it is a label that should be unnecessary. good role models in life. people who are bold and can stretch my comfort zone.vegans, freakshows, atheists, artists, librarians, drag queens, eco-hippies, label whores, and people who are willing to come over at all hours in the night to kill/relocate spiders.i really want to have some friends who aren't single straight dudes in the area...someone else who is 23 and lives on a academic schedule?(I like to meet people.)
yep. itunes top played for today a.c. newman, sondre lerche, tegan and sarah, hellogoodbye, the beatles (plus covers), fiona appple, the beach boys, bon iver, the ditty bops, and the 88. i recently found anathallo and really dig it.
dark comedy, good drama, subtitles, documentaries... and the occasional romantic comedy. generally i will watch whatever though. i kind of fell out of movies a few years ago...
lots of cartoons. food network, animal planet, hgtv, discovery and history channels.the school i work at now doesn't have cable so rare i watch anything anymore.
ethic american lit., astro-physics books (my kids explain them to me), aftermath and reflection of war, history. finite and infinite games by carse. siddhartha by hesse. everything by freud (keep your comments, thanks). everything! by vonnegut though cats cradle and timequake are probably my favorites. anything written by james st. james as he continues to be the most fabulous creature alive. and of course the old standby that is cannon classics.
the pope makes me fucking angry. christ seems like a hoax. and are you kidding me with the fucking president? a few years ago i had a really good boss, her name was dre. and i have friend named brookie who is the most inspiring person i have ever met. what brooke and i can't figure out, jamie and i can. my buddie liz is one of the kindest most polite people i know. does that make the answer a smart, hot, and gracious woman of the world? at any rate, i think that these are the closest to hero or savior i have at this point... though hopefully obama can change the world and shift the list.
