dachshunds are a girl's best friend!

I don't want a lab or a golden retriever 'cause dachshunds are a girl's best friend

About Me

Music is my LIFE!!! From memorizing the cheesy camp songs that my older sister would sing to attending my first New Wave show when I was 8..call it obsession or a ferocious hobby but it makes me the happiest girl in the world!Like I was telling my friend Roo, "I think I'm one of the only people who has J-Lo AND This Mortal Coil in their MP3 list." I'm all over the map with music though my favorite is definitely New Wave/DJ/Trance/Electronica but I'm really diverse so we're bound to strike common ground somewhere. There's so many great bands out there (some I've yet to discover) so burn me a CD!I love my mini dachshund Sidney (AND SPECIAL THANKS TO STEPH FOR CREATING MY DOXIE BACKGROUND!), anything celestial and shiny silver jewelry. I love going on road trips and using my passport as often as I can. Concerts are a MUST!!! Going out to dinner, enjoying theater (or should I be snooty and spell it THEATRE???) get major brownie points too. Mmmmm....brownies....*drool*If you want to add me as a friend (and really, how could you NOT want to...ha!) you'll need to send me a message first. C'mon, entertain me!
Which Trainspotting Character Are You?
I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!

My Interests

Trying to find every unloved dachshund a home. Please visit www.drna.org.

I'd like to meet:

Brian Molko, Marc Almond, Madonna, Freddie Mercury and Sid Vicious (and in musical heaven I shall), Jay Kay from Jamiroquai, Jimmy Sommerville (so we could sing 'Hit That Perfect Beat' together karaoke style!), Shirley Manson, Seth Green, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kett Turton, David Bowie, Courtney Love, Stephen Mackey, Kate Winslet, Gary Oldman, Peter Murphy, Laura Prepon, Hal Sparks, Eddie Izzard and maybe even YOU! I'd actually love to have a dinner party and invite all these characters and see what kind of hell breaks loose--now THAT'S entertainment :o)

Music:

"Nothing pleases me more..than being on the dance floor...take me to the club.." --MannequinGarbage, Placebo, Human Drama, Motley Crue, Hole, Madonna, Duran Duran, Soft Cell, Gary Numan (I love anything with a synthesizer!!!), Suede, BT, Siouxsie, Sisters, Specimen, Peter Murphy, The Cure, The Pogues, random disco (hey I was born in '75..how can I not love the stuff???), Tori Amos, Depeche Mode, New Kids On The Block, *NSYNC, The Chameleons UK, Weird Al, White Zombie, the White Stripes, Blue Epic, Echo and the Bunnymen, Missing Persons, Guns 'N Roses, Motorcycle, 4 Strings, Iio, The Postal Service, Franz Ferdinand, Psychedelic Furs...oh Lordy I'm gonna get arthritis from all of this! I can't list everyone but my music collection is more psychotic than a bi-polar off their meds, mmmm'kay??? Oh and I LOVE to hear the phrase "Hey Melissa you should REALLY check out this band..." Best use of bands in a sentence and thank you to my friend Charles for making this possible: ""I went on a JOURNEY the other day... with some FOREIGNER... but we just wound up hanging out in the STYX" HAHAHHA!!!

Movies:

Sid & Nancy, The Wedding Singer, 16 Candles, Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, Valley Girl (yes I hate the 80s as you can see), The Professional, Immortal Beloved, Dracula, The Crow, But I'm A Cheerleader, Office Space, Idle Hands, Can't Hardly Wait, Party Monster, Clue, RHPS, Gypsy 83, Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, Singles (TOUCH ME I'M DICK!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!), Sliding Doors, American Beauty, Labyrinth, Desperately Seeking Susan, Truth or Dare...I know there's tons more...any music documentaries on my favorite artists! Oh yeah and if anyone has a copy of STRAIGHT TO HELL please let me know so we can have movie night! It's one of my favorites and I don't own it. I'll bring really great snacks, I swear!!! :o)

Television:

I finally have digital cable! I want to marry "WE ARE THE EIGHTIES" on the VH1 classic video channel! I've also rediscovered Melrose Place and My So-Called Life--how I missed them so *sob* Oooh and Roo I'm so excited to finally be able to watch all the high school nonsense of 90210 again! Brenda and Kelly wearing the same dress to the dance! Hahahahaha!!! I watched that damn thing like religion..from the pilot episode to the bitter end (to quote Placebo). Why was everyone in love with Brandon and his unibrow? Dylan was the hot one!!!!!!!!!Oh old episodes of That 70's Show rocks the house (HELLO WISCONSIN!!!) and of course who could exist without the Simpsons??? They need to have the boys from Franz Ferdinand make a guest appearance so Groundskeeper Willie could have a field day :o)

Books:

"And I Don't Want To Live This Life" by Deborah Spungen (yes, mother of Nancy), also "Underneath It All" by Traci Lords. Both give two insightful portrayals about how damaging low self esteem can be and how society is so quick to pre-judge you as unworthy if you're not born into the perfect mold they've set aside for everyone. Nancy lived such a tortured life beneath her own skin and Traci really defines abuse and how it's possible to rise from the ashes and start anew. They're completely awesome books. Go read 'em!

Heroes:

one of my favorite David Bowie songs :o)
