Lady Dakween is probably one of the most surprising female MCs you will get to know.
At the age of 15, she began composing songs that had nothing to do with hip hop...Yes!.. Inspired by artists like: Tracy Chapman, Ben Harper, Alanis Morisette and Nirvana, she started making acoustic, pop rock songs, with only an acoustic guitar! Given the numerous trips she made during her childhood she carried with her all cultural tastes from Reggae, latin music to the freshest urban r'n'b, reggaeton and of course hip hop music. Inspired by artists like JayZ, Notorious BIG or Fabolous, but specially female artists like Missy Elliott, TLC or the latin reggaeton artists like Tego Calderon, Voltio, Ivy Queen or Daddy Yankee.
She wrote her first rap song titled "My Introduction Song" in 2005 revealing her incredible charismatic rap flow, and with so much ease rapping on reggaeton beats as well as hip hop ones...
Interesting that her sound is an american sound although she has never been to, or lived on an english speaking country..Si señor!.. After she moved to Bordeaux, FR, she kept writing and made a few collabos and shows with rap group 99 Pro-G.
In 2007 she is the only female rapping among 27 rappers in Hannibal Smith's and OG Sims's mixtape "33 s'exporte" a tape released in France introducing some of the best BX rappers of the moment.
Lady Dakween is still writing with that crazy spanglish touch she likes to bring to her songs and that actually make her sound like no other female rapper in BX City or even in the entire country!
