Great food, sushi, traveling anywhere but here, relationships, reading excellent books, acting, talking to anyone who will listen, being a fabulously cool aunt, watching good movies, being involved in my church, being a great sister, friend, and girlfriend, being involved in great things with great missions to better the lives of the people sharing this planet with me in the name of Christ.
Whoever invented blog quizzes. I've discovered so much about myself today...
My favorites:
You Are Pecan Pie Soda
Sweet, but totally nuts
What Jones Holiday Soda Are You?
You Should Be an Actor
You have a flair for the dramatic, and you probably already do a lot of acting in your day to day life, just to entertain yourself.
No need to steal the spotlight from your friends... You'll get plenty of attention once you start acting professionally!
What Sort of Artist Should You Be?
Who Should Paint You: Andy Warhol
You've got an interested edge that would be reflected in any portrait
You don't need any fancy paint techniques to stand out from the crowd!
What Artist Should Paint Your Portrait?
You Are Japanese Food
Strange yet delicious.
What Kind of Food Are You?
You Are Elektra
There's really no superhero with more style than you.
Because who could beat being sexy assasin ninja?
What Superhero Are You?
KT Tunstall, Old 97's, Johnny Cash, Sarah Masen, Jars of Clay, Will Smith (really), Sarah McLachlan, Over the Rhine, The Killers, the Garden State Soundtrack, Kelly Clarkson (hey, the girl can sing...I've never even seen American Idol and I like her!), anything my sister recommends. It's funny, I know so many people that are into indie music. I like some indie music, but I'm just a run of the mill pop music kind of girl, for the most part. Music's not really my thing, except when I'm in the car, and even then, I'll listen to sports radio most of the time, especially during football season. I'm a nerd like that...
Little Miss Sunshine (everyone should see this movie. EVERYONE! It's my favorite movie ever!), Life is Beautiful (the original Italian one), the Constant Gardener, Walk the Line, Pride and Prejudice (the new one, I haven't seen the original, though I'm sure I would love it...it has Colin Firth in it, after all...), You've Got Mail (my favorite romantic comedy of all time), Before Sunrise (and Before Sunset, just not quite as much), Junebug, Crash, Ocean's Eleven and Twelve, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Sweet Home Alabama, In Her Shoes, Something New, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang (so funny!).
Recently, only movies, as my cable is out, and I'm having TV issues (see my blog for details). I haven't seen a TV show in what seems like forever (really July 1st, which is a while, but it's summer, darn it, I shouldn't care), and I'm missing it. I'm crazy mad fanatical about Aaron Sorkin's new show "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" Mostly, I'm looking forward to my television working so that I can return to watching football (die-hard Bears fan)!! When my TV works, I love watching the Food Network, though I don't cook, so no one can figure out why, exactly. And I like to watch old Friends episodes on DVD, they still make me giggle out loud.
The Bible, Anne Lamott's "Traveling Mercies", J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series (sooo good!), Frank Peretti's "This Present Darkness", "Charlotte's Web", "The Velveteen Rabbit", "The Devil in the White City" (such a great book about Chicago), Stasi Eldridge's "Captivating," C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity", "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott, "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers, "The Princess" by Lori Wick. "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult is a GREAT book, but it will totally screw with your head and your emotions...you've been warned! I love to read. Lately, I've been reading a lot of plays, for roles and research, which has been interesting. I just finished reading Stephen King's "On Writing," which is excellent, and I'm currently reading Madeline L'Engle's "Circle of Quiet", which is another great book on writing. And I'm a magazine junkie, I have four subscriptions right now...Newsweek, Real Simple, Chicago Magazine, and Budget Travel. :) At least I've weaned myself off the junk magazines...
My friend Anita, who has taken a life full of lemons and has made Red Robin's Freckled Lemonade (the best kind ever). I have never met someone as close to the heart of God as she is, and I love that she's my friend. Every time I talk to her, I am inspired to be better than I am. Also, my sister Kary, who loves me unconditionally. Without her, I would not know what that feels like, and I am so indebted to her for loving me no matter what, and without flinching. God has given her great gifts of patience and wisdom, and she has never stopped believing that I am worth believing in. I am so grateful to her, and to God for her.
