Sonic Beating Productions is a close-knit group of friends and artists from Boston, Massachusetts. Established in January 2003, Sonic Beating Productions; the brain-project of Nick Binary and Ammon EP; joined with Boston mainstay, Changmian Productions, to form the collective now just known as "Sonic Beating."
Every month since then, we've been throwing an event in Cambridge, MA called "Psyforia." These events are designed to bring local, national, and international trance artists - in both the musical and visual fields - to Boston in a way which will promote both the artists and the ideals espoused by the global trance culture. Occurring one Friday night each month - between the hours of 10PM and 2AM - "Psyforia" has quickly become a "must-attend" event for throngs of New England trancers and general party-goers. Trance music from both the progressive and full-on realms is played through Sonic Beating's own "sound pump," a 25,000 watt conglomeration formed in the mind and subsequently built by Nick Binary himself. Meanwhile, the visual creations from trance-oriented video, tapestry, and sculptural artists fill the room, providing substance for both the eyes and the mind.
Aside from throwing "Psyforia," Sonic Beating has expanded into both a sound rental and DJ booking company. All of Sonic Beating's skilled DJ's and visual artists have played and displayed around the country and the globe. Moreover, the "sound pump" has been requested at some of the finest festivals and events in the United States, including Omni-Dance; and has since become the "resident" sound system of the Gaian Mind Summer Festival. In a more theoretical sense, Sonic Beating, through the personal lives of its members and through the events they endorse, wishes to espouse the highest ideals of trance culture and to further promote the notion that a global trance culture can not only exist, but also strive, in the war-ridden, unjust, and segregated world. In a world dominated by intellectual hyperactivity, spiritual loneliness, and physical seperation; Sonic Beating wishes to create in its place a world of intellectual balance, spiritual harmony, and pysical connectedness. Trance culture is already a global one - accepting and tolerant of people from all walks of life, all nations, and all socioeconomic backgrounds. We wish to further propagate and foster this culture. Our parties are thrown on a "donation-only" basis and nobody is discriminated against based on any of the aforementioned. Moreover, as trance culture would have it, Sonic Beating events are not designed for excessive drug use, violent incidents, and the propagation of what has sadly become known as "the meat market." We believe a human being's true substance lies well beneath what we can see and hear on the surface. We believe that trance culture provides the ideal situations for the discovery and exploration of a person's true inner being. It is a culture which not only fosters, but also accelerates, an individual's journey towards self-awareness and self-realization. Everyone in the crew OWES much of their lives to this culture, and it is with great humility, great joy, and great care with which we go about our roles within it - hoping to give back a mere fraction of what this culture has already given us.
