Elvira Madigan

Elvira Madigan - The undisputed art of One.

About Me

OK. I used to label Elvira Madigan as a "project" but bygones will be bygones and this my Elvira Madigan of Sweden is in fact undisputet art and creativity of One, with visions and means to make them real.
Regardless of genre or language the idea is to take a step aside the stereotypes in metal and just express music in concepts as the art it is. In 1998 the first recordingsessions were held and ended up as the demo "Varsel". Under a small selffinanced recordcompany called "Northlore Records" the album "Black Arts" was released 2000 and "Witches - Salem (1692 vs 2001)" in 2001. Later Elvira Madigan signed to Black Lodge and the two titles were remastered, repackaged ("Black Arts" was also remixed) and rereleased in 2003 resp 2004. In 2005 the quite intruiging and unorthodox coversalbum "Angelis Deamonae - Wiccan Aftermath" was released. It includes covers in Black/Speed Metal of artists as Tori Amos, Chris deBurgh and also soundtracks from films and Japanese Playstation games.
The official site (as well as this little page) is run by Marcus H Madigan so any correspondance will be dealt by him... Well let's go ahead and say that it will be dealt by ME! Because I'm writing this now! haw haw! Cheers everyone!
Note: Elvira Madigan is a non-computerized entity, meaning that no computers are involved in the recording process. Used are adat-taperecorders, mixingboards and effects. And NO additional correcting is applied (such as tightening or toneadjustments). Shortly: What You hear is what was played/sung directly into microphones!

Influences: Anything that's honest and creative. To count a few: Einherjer: Blot, WASP, Cradle of Filth (only up until "Cruelty" though...), Skyclad, Voltaire, Tori Amos, Muse, Marillion (only with Steve H), Magnum (early stuff), Bathory, Ark, Sabbat, Hexenhaus, Mekong Delta, King Diamond, Megadeth, Dismal Euphony, Marduk, Subway to Sally, Anathema, Jethro Tull... this list could be much longer, but this is quite enough
Sounds Like: Emperor mixed with Blind Guardian was a nice referrence someone once revealed. "If Cradle of Filth had a baby sister, her name would be Elvira Madigan" was another rather wierd remark - good for a laught although I don't quite agree myself. Some Vintersorg perhaps due to the folk elements as well. Add alot of Bathory in aproach and hardheadedness (is that really a word).
