About Me

Juliana Napier was born in Nova Scotia, Canada with very little musical expertise, however by the age of two she was able to sing o christmas tree and baa baa black sheep at a very high standard, hampered only by a slight lisp, although some found this endearing. At the tender ago of three she was moved to Saudi Arabia where she was obliged to live for eight long years. During this time she learned to swim and play the violin, piano and recorder. She also learned a hell of a lot more christmas songs, this had to be kept under wraps because if the authorities found out then... well the Kindgdom of Saudi Arabia ain't that keen on people openly celebrating Christmas. When Juliana turned eleven the family moved to Edinburgh and she started at the City Of Edinburgh Music School, getting lessons in violin, piano, saxophone, voice, and various other musically related activities and playing in a plethora of orchestras, ensembles, choirs, bands and groups. Abondoning all ideas of becoming a professional musician, she left school at 16 and threw herself the hedonistic student life, not touching an instrument for 2 or 3 years. She moved to Glasgow 4 years ago to study Anthropology and kill a few more brain cells, and in the process launched herslef head-first into the wonderful world of the poor musician, playing in a dub band, Sweet T and The Section and a dance collective, Babedox. Whilst revising for 1st year exams, she destracted herself by learning to play the 12-string guitar and has never looked back. At the moment she is musically concentrating on writing pretty little folky songs to distract herself from writing her dissertation and hopes to form an electro band this summer before moving back to the Middle East to learn Arabic, fight the good fight and learn to sing Arabian style. phew, writing about yourself in the 3rd person is hard work. don't think i'll be doing that again!
