About Me

the music i have up here is old but i hope it's still good. production is obviously home recorded, but i did take over a few rooms and have a laugh with my pals, si, mark, paul, juliana and sister miriam. we got quite a few recorded but then life took over and the record lost it's way. here's a taster anyway. ..................i used to be most well known for doing an awful lot of busking at St. Enochs tube station and causing chaos in the halt bar on a saturday afternoon, but now i'm playing guitar and pedal steel (ethereal country instrument: ten strings, levers, pedals and steel bars)) for The Proclaimers last year we recorded the album "life with you" (at rockfield studios in wales, home of bohemian rhapsody and ace of spades) we have just finished a year long tour of britain, europe and north america. on the british leg and the edinburgh castle gig we had the honour of being joined on stage by Wreckless Eric to play Whole Wide World. we,re finishing touring until june next year leaving me as just another gun for hire ........................i've also toured with Laura Cantrell (new york based country singer, a favourite of the late john peel) Daniel Wylie (ex cosmic rough rider) and appeared on his records Ramshackle Beauty and postcards. The Scruffs (resurrected late 70's memphis rock 'n' rollers) toured japan and played on Swinging Singles. Savalas (film/tv stings adverts etc., Helen Reeves, Johnny Hill and Tippi amoungst others. even a stand in stint with The Bluebells. my last original efforts were with Stash who released the single Drastic Plastic (curveball 1999). Enjoyed by peel and lamacq it nevertheless sunk into rare pink vinyl obscurity. am writing original material, making the most of the cyclical downtime of being a freelance guitarist. looking to record this stuff properly. . .........................i teach guitar as well. privately and for two terms at perth college. hnd and ba. i also run workshops. one of which was in polmont young offenders unit. they recorded some songs and did a gig. a break in the monotony. it was a good show and one of the songs ended up in the documentary. .........................at present i'm also writing with savalas's lambo for film and tv. but really what i do best is play guitar loud, soft avant garde and want to meet more musicians and play on their records and do gigs and never let the music stop as that gives one too much time to think. ....................AAAlways looking to do different stuff to stretch the playing and to keeeep working. kind of a philosopher, like to read. it's said i'm easy going and laid back. sometimes. try to see the glass as half full but keep taking a swig from it. enjoy the possibilities of new forms of communication and think that the future's clockwork. .................... below is the logo of mine and si's new/old covers band. musical memories and all that. we're available to do functions etc. check out www.myspace.com/thesouvenirs1. there's also a movie i did of the proclaimers recording "life with you" cheers zac
