I like Kerouac - here's a quote: "Let the mind be warned that though the flesh be bugged, the circumstances of existence are pretty glorious." And Wm Burroughs, damn good! My all time fave is Ginsburg, got to celebrate his B-Day at the walker shortly before he passed on (mmmm strawberry shortcake!) There's this one chick from MN that writes funny vampire stories, I'll have to find her name later... Its MaryJanice Davidson - The Undead series of books had me rolling, plus I could finish one in a few nightly curl-ups, which is nice with my busy schedule. But if you can't handle fluffy stories, don't go there. Robert Bloch is my fave for pulp fiction - Psycho and The Couch are classic! Pinchbeck is mind-blowing, as is McKenna... Rod McKuen and Tom Robbins inspired me at an early age as well... One of my fave books is Notes to Myself by Hugh Prather. There's a lot of Wm Blake in the bookcase too... and of course Vonnegut...
