There is no beginning or end...Yesterday is history...Tomorrow is a mystery...Today is a gift.

About Me

I have two great daughters, one 16 and the other 15 (Ashley and Samantha). I have raised them on my own since they were babies, and would not change a thing! We are originally from Illinois, and have lived in Michigan and Hawai’i (Makakilo, where I left my heart) as well.
Currently, I work as an Administrative Assistant in Atlanta. I will start working on my degree in Business as soon as I can make some changes in my schedule. Ultimately, I would like to be able to speak French, Portuguese and Japanese (I'm starting to learn Japanese now) and plan to move back to Hawai'i when my girls are done with high school.
I like to read, garden, cook, like TV & movies, family activities, shopping, I enjoy garage & yard sales, and a cup of coffee along with great conversation! I am interested in civil rights/human rights, Native American, African (Diaspora) history, other world cultures and languages.
This is a year of change for me...A lot happened in the last couple of years, and I am starting on a new journey. I am separated from my husband and heading in a new direction. Besides getting back into school and learning a language I am also looking at my spirituality and being a little bit more introspective. A couple of years ago I was into a pretty good routine health-wise, doing TaeBo every other day and walking alternate days, and I am working on changing that and incorporating that into my lifestyle again.
I'd like to make some good friends here in Georgia and all around the world, people who are honest and have decent, kind hearts…regardless of race, religion or gender. People who are happy and positive, who don’t have time for negativity, and get up every morning trying to do it better than the day before!!

If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
Martin Luther King Jr.
"In the present circumstances, no one can afford to assume that someone else will solve their problems. Every individual has a responsibility to help guide our global family in the right direction. Good wishes are not sufficient; we must become actively engaged."
The Dalai Lama
We must become the change we want to see.
I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible.
Mahatma Gandhi
All of the elements for your happiness are already here. There is no need to run, strive, search, or struggle. Just be.
With compassion in our heart, every thought, word and deed can bring about a miracle.
Thich Nhat Hanh
Love is doing small things with great love.
There is a terrible hunger for love. We all experience that in our lives--the pain, the loneliness. We must have the courage to recognize it. The poor you may have right in your own family. Find them. Love them.
Mother Teresa
If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking.
Buddhist Proverb
If one desires a change, one must be that change before that change can take place.
Gita Bellin
People travel to wonder at the height of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars... and they pass by themselves without wondering.
Saint Augustine
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
Walt Disney
Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights.
Pauline R. Kezer
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow".
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.
