Number 15 in the World by the WBC and is the WBC Caribbean Federation Lightweight Champion Currently the NBA Jr. Intercontinental Lightweight Champion At only 22 years of age Edner Cherry has shown amazing class and potential as a professional boxer. Edner has an amateur career of over 20 fights and fought current NABF Jr. lightweight Champion, Nate Campbell at the age of 16 in an amateur bout. Cherry turned Pro at the tender age of 18 and won a unanimous 4 round decision over seasoned veteran, Joe Johnson in his pro debut. Edner has recently defeated two of the biggest names in the lightweight division. In his most impressive performance, Cherry knocked out the very durable and dangerous, Antonio Ramirez in his national television debut on ESPN2's Tuesday Night Fights on July 27th, 2004. Just a few months earlier in April 2004, Cherry stopped Juan "Golo" Gomez-Trinidad with an impressive knockout in the 8th round. Cherry joined trainer, Peter Fernandez in August 2002 and went on to give one of his most impressive performances stopping tough veteran, Francisco Ginorio via TKO in round Number 2 on September 21, 2002. In one of his most recent performances Cherry dominated former Michigan amateur standout, Jadschi Green (8-4-2, 7KO's) by knockout in the first round. Edner is very religious and attends church multiple times per week. As a great a fighter Edner is in the ring, he is a class act outside of it in his own personal life. At such a young age Cherry has had a very bright future and is considered to be one of the hottest young prospects in the world!
