I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Yeah, I finally have gotten tired of the bands, the solicitors, the MySpaz idiots who just want to randomly add people without bothering to get to know them. Sorry! Anyone who sends me a MySpaz request without first making some form of contact with me via email or blog comments, will be summarily rejected. Yeah, it may sound harsh; however, I really am tired of people who clamor to make it onto my "Friend's List"; but, have no intention of pursuing some sort of interaction. The people on my "Friend's List" are either my real friends, people I wish to get to know better, bands who I wish to keep up with via their bulletins and blogs, or business associates. So, if you are unwilling to exert a little bit of energy to get to know who I really am... Don't bother trying to add me. And if you aren't sure of what you should say in a message, I am even going to help you out by borrowing SlackerMom's form letter (with a few modifications)...

You're an expressive, offbeat blogger who tends to write about anything and everything.

You are a bit distant though. Your blog is all about you - not what anyone else has to say. What Color Should Your Blog or Journal Be?
You Are In a Crunch Ice Cream
The perfect combo: a completely nuts person who likes to be touched What Flavor Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Are You?
You Are Mexican Food
Spicy yet dependable.
You pull punches, but people still love you. What Kind of Food Are You?

Movies:

Phantom of the Opera ~ as a longtime fan of ALW's work, I didn't expect the movie to be as good as it is. After seeing it 3 times in the theater, I am a convert!

Still Breathing ~ a movie about love, art, redemption, and honesty

Excalibur ~ "Anahl nathrac uth bas bethud dochiel dienve!"

The Princess Bride ~ "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to DIE!"

Camelot ~ cheesy; but, I love it!

Cats ~ another Andrew Lloyd Webber musical with fabulous dancing

What Dreams May Come ~ one of the most gorgeous movies ever filmed! I love the theme of redemption through love.

The middle trilogy of the Star Wars series

Sixth Sense I never told you, but you sound a little like Dr. Seuss when you're drunk.

Second Hand Lions ~ Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies.

The Lion in Winter ~ He had a mind like Aristotle and a form like mortal sin.

Practical Magic ~ My darling girl, when are you going to understand that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage!

The Indiana Jones trilogy ~ the hat, the whip, the scuffy three day old beard OMG!

The Mummy & the Mummy Returns ~ For the record, if I don't make it out of here, don't put me down for mummification.

Brigadoon ~ "the mist of May is in the gloamin"

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers ~the dancing is out of the world in this movie!

any of Mel Gibson's movies (with the possible exception of Million Dollar Hotel)

Chasing Amy ~ or any of Kevin Smith's movies

The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain ~ Stop actin' so English!

Frida ~ I am convinced that I am the reincarnation of this woman... we share very similar experiences with our spines

Fried Green Tomatoes ~ Towanda! Right of Wrong, Queen Beyond Compare!

Pirates of the Caribbean ~ The moonlight shows us for what we really are.

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen ~No, let me go! I've got tides to regulate! Comets to direct! I don't have time for flatulence and orgasms!

Benny & Joon ~ Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

Harold & Maude ~ A lot of people enjoy being dead. But they are not dead, really. They're just backing away from life. *Reach* out. Take a *chance*. Get *hurt* even. But play as well as you can.

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou ~ Pete, it's a fool that looks for logic in the chambers of the human heart.

The Gods Must Be Crazy ~ absolutely hilarious movie. Can't believe all the people who didn't get it!

A Knight's Tale ~ knights in shining armor combined outrageously with rock n roll Whats not to like?

Television:

Medium

CSI

House

Desperate Housewives

Bones

Lost

Supernatural

Grey's Anatomy

Books:

The list is too long because I am an incorrigible bibliomaniac! Last time we moved, we had over 60 cartons of books that the movers packed and I had numerous boxes of treasured favorites that I had already packed myself. I stopped counting at around 2,000. But my absolute favorite authors are:

Robert Heinlein, Victor Hugo, Alexander Dumas, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Alexander McCall Smith, Jane Austin, Katie MacAlister, Jennifer Crusie, Janet Evanovich, Mary Kate Andrews

Heroes:

My parents for being so generous in a not so generous world.

Noah Harris who died fighting for our country in Iraq.

President Bush for sticking to his guns.

Robert Heinlein for having the courage to write what was in his soul.

Frida Kahlo... not for her politics... but for being an artist while suffering excruciating pain and still maintaining her freedom of spirit.

My husband for... well, hell... just about everything!

My daughter for her exuberance and joie de vivre even when life throws her rotten tomatoes

My sister for always going to bat for the underdog (including her slightly off center big sister)

Sir William Wallace for placing freedom above complacency.
