Track n Field album, titled Marathon, is out now in Finland, international release will soon follow. The first 12" from the album gained good dj rotation and radio support from the key players in the scene. This double disc contains 20 songs together, the other being more chilled grooves and the other is directed to the dancefloor (the overall lenght is about as much as it takes to run a marathon, how clever).
You can preview the whole album on our website by checking out samplers for both individual discs. The whole package is full of soul, downtempo, house, dub and electro gems! This will the the most diverse album you have ever heard come out from Finland.
Nine2five recordings is an independent music label from Helsinki, Finland, releasing all types of electronic music as long as it's good.
The history behind nine2five recordings goes hand-in-hand with the development of underground breakbeat culture in Finland. Meeting Goose (Pasi Saarinen) at the legendary Helsinki nightclub Nylon, where he held a Saturday residence for a good two years, Dizzy (Juha Ponteva) and him soon found out they shared the same interest in music. Deejaying as a team throughout mid-90s, they went on to set up the pioneering Siesta (Sunday afternoon chill-out) and Straight Up Breakbeat (drum & bass) nights in Finland, alongside with their awarded shows on the nationwide Radiomafia and YLEX radio stations.
Later hooking up with Nenis (Sami Nenola), the skater-turned-dj, they re-named themselves The Executives, and promoted nights with the likes of Massive Attack, Roni Size, Gilles Peterson, London Elektricity and many more both in their native Helsinki and Paris (France). Finally, in 2000 they set up nine2five recordings as an outlet for the constant stream of innovative underground music that suddenly seemed to be appearing from basement studios all around Helsinki.
With critical acclaim in the international music press - Jockey Slut, DJ Magazine, Knowledge, Straight No Chaser, Breakin' Point etc. - and enthusiastic dj support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Mr. Scruff, Rainer Truby, Roni Size, London Elektricity, 4Hero, Mad Mats, Diplo and many more nine2five recordings has quickly established itself as the most creative source for fresh talent emerging from the Nordics.
