About Me

Professionally I'm a Social and Cultural Anthropologist and former climbing guide. I initially studied and worked in China, Nepal and Tibet. Currently, I work with the Iroquois of eastern Ontario and the Plateau Native Americans of eastern Washington, Oregon and northern Idaho. I focus primarily on issues of sovereignty as articulated through linguistic practices, and filter the whole project through the theoretical lens of semiotics. Sounds more ambitious than it often is, but I have a good bit of fun.
