I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm a college grad that never left the college town. That bothers me. I feel like a townie. At least I'm not still living with my parents. I'm married (over 3 years!), and I live nowhere near either sides of the family. East meets West in Lynchburg, VA. Oh, and I love animals.I edited my profile at Myspacelayouts . check out these Myspace Layouts!

My Interests

Reading, tennis ("That's PERFECT, 'cause I'm the best tennis player EVER!"), my puppy and kitty, house-hunting, daydreaming about secret talents I may or may not have, and quotable movies - OH and I'm a budding wine connoisseur.

I'd like to meet:

Interesting people. The good thing about these sites is that if you have nothing to say, you don't have much else to do. Hence, most of us on here have opinions and thoughts and generally, well, things to say.

Music:

I'm pretty open-minded. As long as it suits the mood, I'm all over it. George Thorogood is great for road trippin. "Love, Actually" has a great soundtrack. Norah Jones is always a good time. Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald make me feel warm inside. Green Day will always have a special place in my heart. 80's hair bands remind me of Aaron, especially Van Halen, Firehouse and Poison. I have a strange appreciation for New Wave, particularly New Order. The Smiths (and Morrissey of course) are standouts too. Generally, I'm a fan of college radio like WNRN locally.. a bit of everything, and usually a little left of center. (I could go on.)

Movies:

Quotable movies are where it's at. Out Cold, Casablanca, Rio Bravo, the Maltese Falcon, French Kiss, Gladiator, the Last of the Mohicans, Lilo and Stitch, Sgt. Bilko, A Few Good Men, Good Will Hunting, Monty Python and the Holy Grail... they're all on my list.**I can't believe I left out L.A. Confidential, the Usual Suspects, and Pulp Fiction. I have my elder bro to thank for introducing me to the first 2.

Television:

I love 24 whether I want to or not (my husband's fave). Then there's House and Grey's Anatomy. Family Guy and the Simpsons are a good time. I'm not ashamed to say I was a hard core Buffy fan (and still have a quadrillion episodes to keep me company). During football season, I watch MNF especially when it involves my Steelers or another AFC team. Desperate Housewives used to be a guilty pleasure of mine, but I forgot to start watching the 2nd season. Same thing happened with Lost.

Books:

It all started with R.L. Stine and the Fear Street saga. I can't get enough of good thrillers. They can be Sci-Fi, political, romantic (read Anne Rice), or anything else. I also have a drive to read all "classic" literature... anything that could possibly be assigned in an English class. I have to know for myself what the fuss is all about. That's how I discovered I really like Madame Bovary and Anna Karenina. I have trouble taking Shakespeare seriously; I think it's the old English. Stephen King puts me to sleep. Read the Moonstone, by Wilkie Collins.

Heroes:

Everyone in my family, for one reason or another... we're made of strong stuff.

If I had a genie and 3 wishes..

At least one of them would be to replace my joints with ones that work.  I always knew I was flexible (your fingers and knees aren't supposed to bend backwards, right?), but I've had enough. ...

I'M BUYING A HOUSE

So I've been thinking..

Circumstances got me thinking about my brother this morning.  My older brother, who's no longer with us.  I say that sometimes to people that hardly know me (and never met him) and wonder if...
