Sam Cooper

About Me

Sam Cooper has been keeping busy since moving to Portland, OR in 2007. While regularly performing locally and around the nation as an avant-folk singer-songwriter, Sam has recorded two albums (three if you count the rap album) and has collaborated with numerous bands as a multi-instrumentalist, including Horse Feathers and Jared Mees and the Grown Children.
Sam usually performs his own songs solo, with faux-hammer finger style guitar and a dynamic croon. He sometimes plays with Providence Plantations and/or Birch Bells, amorphous bands of friendly musicians. His recordings feature vaguely orchestral instrumental arrangements played by him and by friends.
In other projects, Sam has been known to play banjo, violin, bass, keyboards, mandolin, percussion, accordion, and to sing. In addition to Horse Feathers and Jared Mees and the Grown Children, Sam has played or is playing with Tchotchkes, Autopilot is for Lovers, Galveston, Jive White Boy, Invisible Rockets, and the Ivonrose Family Jamboree.
Sam will be touring around the country and possibly the world in 2009, with his own music and with Horse Feathers and Jared Mees and the Grown Children. He will also be recording a new album to follow up last year's "Spiritual Billionaire," which will be re-released this spring. real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
