About Me

( [email protected] ) Greetings, I was brought up in a wee toon called Irvine in the West Coast of Scotland. Not the most creatively nurturing place in the world but somehow I came out of it all right, probably because I got the hell out of there before I turned 16. Since then I've been traveling, busking and gigging and somehow surviving on magic and music. I spent the last few summers touring the UK festival circuit, I have played at Glastonbury, Sunrise, The Big Green Gathering, Knockengorroch, the Wickerman (Acoustic Village Headliner) and a few more wee intimate ones all over the UK. This summer I hope to be playing in these festivals and more. Time to settle now. I came back to Glasgow at the beginning of the year and somehow managed to get on stage in the Royal Concert Hall to play on the Danny Kyle Open Stage, part of the Celtic Connections Festival...I won! This was an amazing break for me and it rekindled my confidence in my music and performance. This made me decide to take on the lease for a flat in Glasgow and get stuck in. At the moment I'm collaborating with some great musicians- (fiddle and mandolin, drums and percussion, double bass, whisles and pipes, female backing vocals and I'm very open to more instruments and styles) I also play as a "one man band" playing a cajon and hi-hat whilst playing guitar and singing."whether it's stomping gipsy folk, all-night campfire reggae jams, tabletop accordion stomps, or being the most rocking busker in town, John Langan is the very definition of pure entertainment. He won the Danny Kyle Open Stage at Celtic Connections 2008, and with awesome fiddle and double bass accompanying his guitar-voice-stompbox combo tonight he is guaranteed to rock the house" (woodlands creatures)
