What's Addictive?
I was recently asked what I believe (religiously) and thought I'd post my answer for anyone that cared.
My answer:
What I believe is that the typical version of God is not something I believe in. It's also not something I don't believe in.
There appear to be a lot of reasons to believe in God.
There appear to be a lot more reasons to question whether such a God exists.
And there appear to be a lot of reasons to not believe in God at all.
But since I don't know, I consider myself spiritual and agnostic.
What does that mean in simple terms?
I think a person should be good. I think a person should do what they know is right. I think a person should help others if they can and it's a realistic option. And I think a lot of what the bible puts forth as ways to live and behave make sense. So even if God doesn't exist, and the bible is nothing but a story, at least it holds a lot of good ideas about life in general.
So does God exist? I don't know, but thats what I believe.
At the moment, the following things REALLY strike my interest (whether I agree or support them or not), and I'd love to learn more about them, or be in touch with people that are somehow related. Note this list is not in any particular order.
- Any "good" cause
- Games (be it computer, platform, online, email, PBM, live action, or board - this is a personal hobby of mine since I was about 8 - I really like playing games of all kinds)
- Wiccan lifestyles
- Goth lifestyles
- Religious beliefs of all kinds (yes, including Satanism)
- Current popular music of the "younger" generation. I hated when my dad used to say "What the hell are you listening to that crap for?!?!". I just want to keep in touch with things as I get older.
- Any culture that isn't me
- Psychology and all aspects of what make us tick as people
I also
love questions and debates. So if anyone has questions, send 'em my way. If anyone thinks they want to debate or discuss life, the universe, and anything in it with me, I'm always game. I like anything that promotes mental stimulation and doesn't involve fighting or being rude. But then again, I have no problems being rude to people I don't like.
