Signature (born William Washington, November 26, 1985) may be a new face to the world of music but is a newcomer by no means. Born in Houston Texas, Signature was raised in the church and was seldomly aware of what was going on in the world of music. At the age of 5, he followed in his father’s footsteps and showed a great intrest in music. He began tinkering with the piano and eagerly trying to reproduce what he heard his father do on sunday mornings. At the age of 11 his family moved from Houston to North Carolina to start a new life in a smaller city. This was not too much of a loss for him, considering that the majority of his family lived in North Carolina and because it’s where both of his parents are from. He was then introduced to the drums at age 12 and at the same time began to write lyrics to the drum beats he would record on cassette tape. Finding a new way to express his thoughts through music and rythm, he began to write countless songs about his life experiences. Switching schools 2 or 3 times between middle school and high school, Signature finally settled down at Northwest School of the Arts (k-12) in the second semester of his sophomore year. The atmosphere of his new school brought a new meaning to what he had been tinkering around with for the last couple of years..... he now had to become serious about his musicianship. Involved in the Choral, Theatre, and Band departments of the school, Signature found himself learning many new different ways to express his talents and abilities. He performed in many stage plays and also worked behind the scenes frequently. He even created a small reputation on campus for himself as a formidable emcee and composer amongst the students and faculty members. With no venue other than school to express his talents, he found himself wanting to do more. After graduating in 2003, he attended college and gained a vast amount of knowledge in the fields of music and engineering. By combining his own style of music along with the information he has gained over the years, he has created a sound that’s in a class of its own.
