It's come to my attention that people who don't use real web browsers are having problems seeing my myspace page correctly. If that's you, get a real web broswer . Thank you.
Hey, it's now July 2007. And as promised, every two years I update my Myspace profile! That way I can spend a bit of time on it, but then justify that time by waiting another 2 years. So this will be my profile until 2009!Sadly, so little has changed in the past two years, but here ya go. I hope the this new one will be outdated fast.ME
I work full time for the Daily Gazette. They just promoted me to head web programmer dude. Hopefully I'll make a website that actually works and gives readers what they want, while making the Gazette moeney so we all don't get fired. You should subscribe to the Gazette. Today. My hours are pretty crazy there... I mostly work nights and miss lots of concerts. But then I get to sleep in (when I don't have school).
I run a music webzine, Rkstar.com , pronounced rock star dot com. It's pretty cool. Since September '05, I've been working on a new "Rkstar 2.0" site, which will be so much bigger and better. It will be a huge site. Due out February '06. *sigh*. If you are a top notch perl/php programmer/web designer/javascript/css expert, and want to help great music get its deserved exposure, and work for free, please get in touch with me :)
I'm always right, or at least it often feels that way. I have the utmost respect for someone who corrects me when I'm wrong. And please do, as I'm likely to do the same to you until the point of annoyance. I like to know everything that matters. And know it correctly.
I try to spend my money the best I can. Too many people just buy what's cheapest, hurting themselves and others in the long run. Paddy Kilrain said in a song "You must begin to think twice about who profits from the money you lose". That alone made me change the way I spend my money. It goes along with the Ember Swift quote- "those in power, they have no fear, they have no fear at all, except for mass consumer revolt." We the consumers have the power, let's use it.
I just got a pretty sweet new apartment where Scotia, Glenville, and Schenectady meet. It's a pretty good location. And during the nice months I can ride my bike almost any where. You should visit sometime.
I host the Rkstar Open Mic every Sunday at the Moon & River Cafe .
I hope to one day open a music venue/cafe to act as sort of a central hub for everything else I do.
Cats rule, dogs drool.SCHOOL
Never stop learning. I went to RPI for 2 years for computer science, then to St Rose for a year for graphic design and journalism, and now I'm a part time music student at SCCC. I also teach music - piano/keyboard, bass, guitar and theory. And to keep things spicy - I teach cgi/perl as well. So if you're in Schenectady county and lookin to learn... hit me up!MY TIME
I keep myself busy- working full time, doing the rkstar thing full time (both current and future versions), going to school, hosting the open mic, teaching music lessons, playing sports, practicing music, playing music, managing and booking amazing bands (like Monkey Gone Mad and Paddy Kilrain ), trying to put together an effective business plan for the cafe/venue, going to as many shows as I can, reading/answering hundreds of emails, being the computer maintenance guy, pretty much everything you can imagine other than sleep. That's one of the few things I don't seem to find too much time for.SPORTS
I like sports, but just playing them. I only watch them if a friend is playing. Ultimate frisbee and basketball are the two I play the most. I'm competitive, but in a fun and friendly way. I don't mind losing at all, as long as the teams are fair and the players actually try. You should come play. And biking is fun too... though I pretty much only bike as a means to get from point a to b.GIRLS
I think I'm too much of a workaholic to devote the time needed for a relationship. But I love meeting new people, and you never know... maybe someday I'll find someone who can convince me to take a break. I could probably use it.RELIGION
I was raised catholic and never liked it, and the older I get, the less I like the idea of religion. Faith, when used in religious terms is not a good trait. It's the whole belief in something that can't be proved. And society's acceptance of that is what allows people to openly believe the fundamental idiocracy that motivates them to fly planes into buildings and blow up abortion clinics. I realize religion can help the weaker minded through tough times, but there are so many better ways. Also, it's awful how much control the religious delusional have over politics. It was the religious delusional that single-handedly got Bush elected. And Bush, after being told to do so by his imaginary friend, decided to invade Iraq and now tens of thousands of people are dead because of it. And the religious delusional there are fighting back against America's and each other's delusions with suicide bombs. When will it end? When religion is universally treated like what it is - a delusion. If anyone wants to debate me on this, feel free. But I will win. Fun comics - cage and methods . And don't forget the bible .THE FUTURE
I'm pretty committed to the capital district... Scotia in particular (it is the music capital of the world, after all). I really really want to get a music venue open in Scotia/Schenectady. I've dealt with venues a lot from all angles (booking the venues, booking the bands, performing in the bands, running the sound, and a very regular concert-goer), and there's not a single great all-encompassing venue in the area. Most focus on alcohol sales, have silly age restrictions, can't handle bigger bands (in both members and popularity), no internet access... or any other list of complaints I've heard. How great would it be to have a venue designed from the ground up by the musicians who would play it, and the music-lovers who go to the shows? *fingers crossed* that it'll happen sooner than later. And I'll do all that while working at the Gazette.
