About Me
Ive been through so much, my music is usually a reflection of my life, states Rome, a Brooklyn native, born to Dominican parents.
Creative by nature, as a young man Rome expressed himself through acting and still aspires to be on the silver screen. However, it is his skills as a lyricist that eventually took over and he began seriously writing songs more than three years ago. Rome explains, It was at that time that I understood who I was, my character, and how to get my point across without boring the consumer. He notes the late Christopher Wallace, Jay Z, and Master P as his influences.
Its been quite some time since Brooklyn has generated a rap artist who possessed the skills to lead Brooklyn as well as the rest of the Hip Hop world into the future. Rome DMarco hails from Crown Heights and his straight forward, But articulate style has the streets of New York buzzing with anticipation, priming him to take over the rap scene.
Rome has left crowds hyped with energy at several live performances at Hot 97s Ralph McDaniels annual memorial day concert, the How Can I Be Down Conference, VH1s Cut Throat with Chivone Dean of Ruff Ryders, The Lab, and Beat Street Records in Brooklyn. Rome has also been featured on air and on mix tapes by popular DJs including Sickamore, Whoo Kid, Kool Kid, Action Pac, DJ Ace at WBLS (107.5), DJ Kaled at Mix 96, Prince Ice 103.9 in South Carolina, DJ Self & Ralph McDaniels of XM Radio, LIU College Radio, Fifth Column internet Radio and DJ Prostyle 102 Jamz in Orlando Florida. He has also made a number of appearances on BCATs underground hip-hop show, and the Rock promo for WWF.
Romes goal is to create a brand that will enable him to transcend into different genres of entertainment without diluting his music and image.
In 2004, Rome began producing his debut eponymous album, Miracle, which features Jimmy Cozier & Buck Shot of Black Moon. The album released in the winter 2004, is reminiscent of a classic hip-hop album, laced with street tales of survival, and mixed with head nodding production. The album is executive produced by Rome DMarco and produced by QC Funk, Sherwin Miller, Chadwest, Omen, Peter Panic and Cortez Farell. In the winter 2005, Rome released a freestyle/original song album hosted by Sickamore and P Cutta. Rome DMarco has sold over 20,000 units on the streets/mom & pops retailers.
Rome is currently staying busy by recording a third album and featuring on the hottest DVD magazines promoting his latest release Crown Heights Riot hosted by Sickamore & DJ Envy.
