Hook's Right Hand can be summed up in a few simple words: having a good time. Influenced heavily by 80's rock bands such as Van Halen, Motley Crue, RATT, and many more, Hook's Right Hand creates music that promotes a 'good time' atmosphere. Flashy on-stage antics, face melting solos, pumping bass lines, catchy lyrics, and pounding drums mesh into one to form a style that is reminescent of 80's rock yet innovative and original.The band began back in the summer of 2005, when Dustin Wiltrout (drums) and Grayson Gable (guitar) began experimenting with different styles of music. In October of '05, they brought in long time friend Trevor Stiltner for lead vocals. Around the same time Grayson's brother Austin Gable was added to the line up to play bass, and also occasionally switching to keyboard. The four piece then began writing material, and began playing shows in late January '06.Since then the band has played many local Maryland venues, including Fletcher's Bar, Sonar Lounge, Fishhead Cantina, Recher Theatre, and many others. They have spent time in a studio, recording the songs, "Start Walking" and "Fuel the Fire" for promotional use, and plan on recording again in the future. The band placed first at the Bowie Battle of the Bands, and made it to the Maryland State Finals of the Emergenza Music Festival.
More recently, the band has been in a hiatus since November of '07, but plan to make a come back very soon. Keep a look out as they play more gigs, keep on rocking, meeting new people, and just having a good time. Anyone and everyone is welcome at shows, so please don't be shy.
