Tantrumn: Coming Soon

About Me

MSN IM: [email protected]
There's something about unsubtle rage that lends itself well to Montreal Thrashcore up-and-comers TANTRUMN. Blessed with the ability to commandeer a stage, the band's precision and subsequent explosion of anxiety-riddled catharsis is what comes off as the group's calling card. If you haven't seen Tantrumn live, you don't know what Tantrumn is all about.
Formed by Dax Czernatowicz (lead guitars/vocals) and Dennis Pavia (drums) in 1999, the band eventually rounded out its line-up with the acquisition of Rob Laurion (bass/vocals). After winning a series of Battle of the Band competitions, the group quickly ascended to the elite levels of Montreal's independent scene.
That prominent status was solidified via opening spots for ANONYMUS, EVERGREEN TERRACE, MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD, DESPISED ICON, ION DISSONANCE, an appearance at the OBEY THE FLAME festival with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, GOD FORBID and SKINLESS, as well as a crushing set at the 2002 VANS WARPED TOUR. Tantrumn has also soldiered on via countless headline shows, mostly in the Montreal area but also exploring various regions in other Canadian provinces.
Tantrumn has already released a debut (Tantrumn -- Kemo Records), which was met with strong critical acclaim. Though the band is proud of the record, the three members realise that the stage is where Tantrumn's inner beast truly comes out to play. Tantrumn's concert manifestation isn't subtle but, then again, roaring double-kick drums don't claim to be. Neither do mechanical guitars, combined with rapid-fire bass playing. Raging growls are then interspersed with clean vocals, creating dualism and dynamic within the unit's otherwise antagonistic creative offspring.
That being said, the most impressive of Tantrumn's elements is the band's ability to differentiate itself within the notoriously strong Montreal scene. Anyone who has witnessed this unit's live stab has undoubtedly walked away affected, and that's what Tantrumn takes pride in, first and foremost. When a band reminds you of Strapping Young Lad's earliest days, or the clinical explosion of FEAR FACTORY's Demanufacture, a definite nerve has been exposed. Tantrumn zeroes in on said nerve, and then festers it until aggression is the only receptor it will report.
