One of the most unique rappers born and raised in Nigeria. Jay Dizzle earned his status from his lyrical ability and unconventional rhyming technique, the same superiority over the average Nigerian rap artist that had his first single, Stronger, maintaining the no. 1 position on local charts for a record 11 weeks!
Born Sheyin Nkom in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria, the rapper grew up on a university campus where he was exposed to various genres of music by students and older siblings who afforded him much acquaintance with rap albums. By the early 90s, such artists as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 2 Pac, BIG, Wu-Tang, Naughty by Nature, and more were feeding his hunger for rap music and only a few years later, he was writing his own full length songs.
Supported by his father who used to DJ as a hobby in his younger days, Jay Dizzle recorded his first song in 2002 with G-Lynx which he also co-produced. The song also featured vocals from Nigerian rap artist, OD, and is called Ill Expressions. It was included on the MyRhythm.com compilation album alongside some of the best Hip Hop and R&B artists in Nigeria such as Modenine, Jeremiah Gyang, A.T., Terry Da Rapman, and Rule Clean.
Jay Dizzle has since been producing songs for other artists and is currently finishing up his debut album, Ill Xpressionz which has been highly anticipated by fans of rap music exposed to the rapper’s extraordinary lyrical skill. The album is set to be released under Jay Dizzle’s indie label, Playalyztic Entertainment.
