“You know who this is?â€FaRaw 4 Real!!!The above lyrics are taken from an intro to a song that undoubtedly will be heard on FaRaw’s debut remix album and the lyric really resonates strong and loud that grabs the attention. This is what FaRaw is about, they are the new group with a new sound and they are getting the attention they deserve.
FaRaw are making music that can be difficult to categorize, suffice to say it is powerful and diverse music and carries a positive message. FaRaw are specialists in diversity of music and can range from a smooth ballet to a raging hard groove. The music is a Nigerian, American and Jamaican base or to quote Fama, one of the vocalists of FaRaw, “the music is an Afro HipHop with a Reggae twistâ€. “Afro is the sense of implementing African Dialect into HipHop and Reggae tunesâ€.
FaRaw’s performances in the studio and especially on the stage are a sight and sounds to behold, passionate and hype, the way a performance has to be. Mr. Raw, also a vocalist for FaRaw, brings the street flava to FaRaw and is a man of endless energy to sway the crowd.
The creation of the music, unique to FaRaw, is not easily done and requires collaboration of the members of FaRaw on the various tracks potential to the album or to be performed at up coming live venues. FaRaw’s lyrics are at the core of each song, obviously, but are worked and messaged by the group to perfection. I must credit Fama and Mr. Raw for their writing prowess, In terms of lyrics. FaRaw are the best I’ve read and heard in this market that seems saturated with poor writings and knock off acts. Lyrically, FaRaw are sophisticated, thoughtful and convey a refreshing positive message. You can look for the writings to encompass social issues such as relationship tribulations or successes to politically charged issues of today. Each track or song that FaRaw create are heart felt and real and have substance, collectively, they are uplifting and provocative. FaRaw believe that their music has to have purpose and a theme, with out such you’re saying nothing at all.
Undoubtedly by now you have deduced that the name FaRaw, the group title, is a compilation from the group’s front men aliases, Fama and Mr. Raw. Both Fama and Mr. Raw have extensive musical background that collectively span years in the field of music. Both FaRaw front men have been members of other groups separately and together at points in the past. Fama says, “These experiences are so important for us as we come in to our own musicallyâ€. Notably Mr. Raw had performed as an opening act for The FUGEES . Mr. Raw, in looking back on his experience with opening for The Fugees says, “This was an unbelievable experience but it went so well and it boosted my confidence so much man, you wouldn’t believeâ€. Fama and Mr. Raw also happen to be cousins but both agree they’re more like brothers. This close relationship between the two is one of the keys to the rapidly mounting success of FaRaw. Mr. Raw lived in Nigeria for a time and currently lives in the United States and same for Fama. The Nigerian, American and Jamaican influences are a key part to the style and sound and look of FaRaw. Fama says, “I call this thing with us having this Nigerian and American background Naijamericanâ€. “It’s Naijamerican it’s about the art and the message we sendin’â€.
The Jamaican influence had a stronger affect on Fama musically, growing up listening to artist like BOB MARLEY,BERES HAMMOND, CAPLETON, BUJU BANTON just to name a few, Fama always felt like a piece of his soul resides in Jamaica in ways he cant explain but he lets his style and his flow express that.
The future for FaRaw looks bright! A busy schedule is ahead for the new group. A schedule of radio interviews, live performances and a music video are planned for this spring and upcoming summer for FaRaw. “Being seen and being heard is what we’ll be doin’,†says Fama. “We’ll let the music and the energy connects us to the peopleâ€.I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!
