Believe
--------------------------------------------------The clothing line ONE LOVE was founded in the year 2004, when Truth a.k.a. Aaron Carretti the youngest of the Carretti brothers painted a scene filled with manipulated characters of his childhood and imagination in his traditional ink-blot style mix of urban culture and tribal African art entitled, One Love. The acrylic painting so inspired everyone who saw it that it was entered in a local contest and voted to be put on display in the city's library. Consequently, it wasn't only family and friends who enjoyed the paintings spirit, style, and originality.... it was stolen from the library's archives. Public headlines did there best to retrieve the painting, but the culprit never came forward. Refusing to let a single thief own an illuminating idea that was meant to unite people and directly connect the artist with the vein of humanity, Aaron made preparations to do the impossible, recreate what was a spontaneous vision.
Aaron again sat down and painstakingly recreated what many believed to be his first masterpiece. As the characters slowly began to come alive for the second time in different ways, both David and Aaron realized that what the painting was embarking on, was a forgotten spirit of unity and beauty that held compassion and truth for not only the Carretti brothers, and not only those from their area, but humanity as a whole. David started brainstorming ideas on how best to reach the world with Aaron's creativity and the two decided on the clothing line to represent their vision. A way for people to connect with the spirit of the artist who's paintings, writings, and influences (no matter the theme) seemed to orbit around a central underlying thesis: One Love.
The brothers dug up Ace's old sketchbooks and writings, scrapbooks and paintings, journals and diaries and etched out what would be the first set of designs for a clothing line that would ultimately embody all the creativity and respect the two brothers felt about those whom they loved, those whom they knew and those from other cultures whom they had yet to meet.
When you wear One Love apparel, you are not wearing a clothing line. The design embedded into the fabric touching your skin is a canvas. At some point an artist was staring wildly at his unfinished pattern, a chaos of ink and hoping that his lines would do the template justice. There was a moment of conception where an abstract thought became a tangible vision. Where colors and realities mixed together to form beauty and truth.
One Love as a sentiment was never born or created. It is like the scent of a perfume whose components have always existed yet never been presented or mixed to create that particular scent. It is like a drum or piece of furniture carved from the wood of the earth. It is like the way you've always felt, perfectly described in the words of a song written by someone you've never met. It is what we share. It is the umbilical chord of humanity, the foundation of compassion, and the spirit of understanding:
