Protecting my car from nightly predators. Fixed locks, working garages and a new car already.
The fucker who keeps trying to break into my car...but not when I'm alone.
BET After Dark...but only when I have writing to do...There are two really bad songs that have become favorites lately: the Rihanna murderer song and that Hate me today Switchfoot-sounding one. I can't get enough of either of them. I like how I just add on to this section instead of updating it...10 O'clock Tupac is bittersweet, cuz I love catching it, but it also means I'm really late for work. I was so sick of the So Sick of Love Songs song and then they made the remix and I'm into it again. What's awesome is that KDay and 92.3 are so close to each other, now I can just go between them in heaven all day all. I love the Mack 10 song about praying and that song where the guy says "she got me doin' dishes." That's all for now and of course all Mariah. Mariah Carey is reading my mind/saving my life. Just like the Calgon commercial - she is amazing. This entire list is bullshit since I've been listening exclusively to 92 Jams for the last 6mos. So really, this section should read: R&B circa 1988 - present. But I'll keep the list for posterity's sake: 764-hero,bob dylan, leonard cohen, (look I was almost going to try alphabetical order) tom waits, van morrison, neil young, cat power, be good tanyas, freakwater, velvet underground, red house painters, promise ring, bruce springsteen, mobb deep, dead prez, nas, billie holiday, songs: ohia, silver jews and all the variants of them like, karate, silkworm, pavement, cash, willie nelson, ani (old), joni mitchell, jawbreaker, lifetime, songs that talk about trains, streets and cities, chieftans, rolling stones, pogues, random old folk irish songs, regular old folk songs, smog, keith sweat, whiskeytown (but not ryan adams), jeremy enigk (but not SDRE), kelly price, smiths, damien jurado, derrick carter, joan baez, jim croce, modest mouse, nick cave, hole, dirty three, jeff buckley, slim whitman, leadbelly, muddy waters, chris smithers, fred eaglesmith, john prine, lucinda williams, dixie chicks a little, cheryl crow sometimes, nanci griffith, kate & anna McGarrigle, tragically hip (one song but i like it a lot), led zeppelin, otis redding, ella fitzgerald, the rachels, ramblin jack elliot, nina simone, etta james, prince, taj mahal, rod stewart, elton john, will oldham, bright eyes, king kong, steve earle, mark knopfler, townes van zandt, songs with Dublin in the title, guy clark, woodie guthrie, nana mouskouri, tom rush, linda rondstat, dolly parton, clancy brothers, waylan jennings, uncle tupelo (but not Wilco), billy bragg, gram parsons, REM, gillian welch, hem, aretha franklin, interpol, neutral milk hotel, libertines, decemberists, i finally listened to the whole pedro the lion album (i know i'm late to that one but wasn't interested) and i really like it
SUMMERHOOD. I have a new favorite movie - The Odd Couple. I feel like I should have watched it 15 years ago and it's like I'm saying "I really identify with Holden Caulfield." But anyway, it's a great movie and I'm sure play...I loved TransAmerica, which reminded me that I also love Y Tu Mama and Thelma and Louise. Annie Hall. Withnail and I, Performance, The Hustler, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridgit Jones, Trainspotting, Dazed and Confused, American Splendor, Iron Giant, Daytrippers, Almost Famous, Me Without You, Walking and Talking, Running on Empty, A Beautiful Mind, You Can Count on Me, Adaptation, Norma Rae. The writing in between the shows on the cartoon network.
Damn Hannah for this historical/fantasy/sci-fi/porn novel about a woman who goes back to Scotland in 1743 and falls in love with an outlaw Highlander. It's stealing my life and there's more when this one is done...I am so in love with the book I'm reading right now and Leigh's mom is reading the same one, further elevating the book's cosmic relevance. It's called Kafka on the Shore and the title is gay but the book is awesome...."I was totally in love with him. Which is to say - he was good with his hands and his mouth." - that's from the book I'm borrowing from Travis. I've been reading mostly "don't kill yourself books" lately. Cold Mountain, other long books where nothing happens but they talk about the weather alot and it's nice to think about such as Hemingway, Thomas Hardy, All the Pretty Horses, Faulkneranything where people are really poor like A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Grapes of Wrath, Angela's Ashes, some British twats like Jane Austen, Bronte, Rachel Papers by Martin Amis, BJ's Diary, ADRIAN MOLE, TrainspottingUnbearable Lightness of Being, Cavalier and Klay, Catcher in the Rye, Great Gastby, 1984, Narnia, - Ok, clearly I'm reaching back to books from 3rd grade. I don't read as much as I should anymore.
