About Me

This is STILL funny:
.. width="425" height="350" ..
I've been described as cool, awesome, hot, video games, the hottest and real real hot.
I'm into a lot of fun stuff, particularly my band, Honor Society .
Here we are at Arlene's Grocery in NYC:
For as long as I can remember, music has played an instrumental (ah! pun!) role in my life. I remember hammering out tunes by ear on my little Casio keyboard when I was 5 years old. At age 7, I started playing the upright bass. I played classical upright bass from age 7, throughout high school, but I found my true passion, the electric bass guitar, in 8th grade. I quickly found my way around the instrument, joined the high school jazz band and started playing in an alt-rock/metal band in 9th grade...we were so awesome...and badass...and I had long, really long hair.
After high school, I went to the Hartt School of Music (Univ. of Hartford) to study jazz. I gigged a ton on both the upright and electric basses. Toward the end of my sophomore year, I helped co-found Mori Stylez...a progressive-jazz/fusion outfit with Zed Kelley (guitar/bassoon), Dennis Lichtman (mandolin/clarinet) and Barry Davis (drums). I loved that band. Throughout the rest of my college career, we toured all over the northeast, performing with The Roots, Busta Rhymes, Jill Scott, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Soulive, Karl Denson, Percy Hill...to name a few.
At the end of college, I left Mori Stylez and tried the day-job thing. After 9 months of sitting at a desk, in front of a computer all day long and not playing music, I was about ready to gouge out my own eyeballs with a spork. It was about that time that I got involved with Mike and Jay in a project that evolved into Honor Society, my current band.
I'm NOT a music snob...although I used to be. I appreciate all forms and genres of music, as long as there's something to it - good writing, strong lyrics, good production, good playing, etc. I am not a fan, however, of "manufactured" performing artists...I prefer real, organic talent.
I am a pacifist and a lover of all things...mineral, plant and animal. I like to think that we are all connected to one another, not only as human beings, but more importantly as living organisms. I like to think that Matter, Energy and Life, which is the sum of Matter and Life, are all interconnected and common to EVERYTHING.
I prefer ideas to beliefs. Ideas encourage thought. Ideas can grow, change, produce more/better ideas, encourage thoughtful discussion and debate. Beliefs are steadfast, concrete and eliminate the need for thought, which is terribly dangerous.
I think Dr. Phil is evil incarnate. So are Bill O'Reilly and Ann Coulter.
I'm sick and tired of blind-patriotism. I'm tired of seeing "God Bless America" bumper stickers and US flags on every car.
I am aware of and disgusted with the neo-conservative agenda of the Bush administration. I think it's absolutely crucial to the future of the planet (literally) that everyone wise-up to what's happening in our country and the world. If you haven't heard of The Project for a New American Century , you should learn about them. If their "statement of principles" sounds eerily prophetic (and evil) to you, that's because it is.
Sometimes, I'm afraid to say what I mean. But I always mean what I say.
They say actions speak louder than words...which is sometimes true. But on occasion, inaction can speak louder than action.
I am a seeker of truth. If you have ideas or truths that you'd like to share with me, please don't hesitate to drop me a line!
