Often considered the back-bone of many songs, Evo Freez has is a distinctive combination of raw grittiness & soul. He has the ability to flex his abysmal voice from a deep, ruff, high energy style to a smooth unfathomable flow. Evo brings a new and unique sound that has established him as an emcee with a message, a much needed option for todays hip hop listeners. With close to a decade of rhyming experience under his belt, Freez is a recognized veteran on the underground hip-hop scene. Evo and his brother Kava1 have put in work as they have been holding it down for years. Freezs first professional release was in 2001 with The Islanders, ITAP Presents Tales From the Scripts (with his cousins Faposo, Keysole and Maka, Kava1 and fellow Homegrown Inc. artist Monopoly ).
Evo Freez has a long list of musical influences; to name a few Blackalicous , Nas, Ishkan & Moka Only . His taste in music goes further than hip-hop, as he will be the first to tell you that Peter Tosh and Ben Harper are a huge creative inspiration and a major part of what allows him to make the transition from only a rapper to a rapper/song writer. Taking from his inspirations and life lessons, Evo Freez is motivated spread his sound around the globe.
Freez keeps busy as he has several completed projects awaiting release and a solo project in the works. He has set out to spread a message of music, peace and truth in hopes to do his part and make a difference in the hip-hop world. Evo continually proves himself as one the captains on the team as he also finds time to play a major roll in the HGR fund ( Homegrown Revolution Fund ) a foundation established for emcees, djs, b-boys & b-girls involved in hip-hop to unite our resources and help give back to our people and our communities.
Even with all of his experience, Evo Freez knows that he is at the beginning of his journey. It will be interesting for the world to sit back and watch what he and his fellow Homegrown members will accomplish.
