About Me

The human being is often conceived as being in the illusion of individual existence, and separateness from other aspects of creation. This "sense of doership" or sense of individual existence is that part which believes it is the human being, and believes it must fight for itself in the world, is ultimately unaware and unconscious of its own true nature. The ego is often associated with mind and the sense of time, which compulsively thinks in order to be assured of its future existence, rather than simply knowing its own self and the present. The spiritual goal of many traditions involves the dissolving of the ego, allowing self-knowledge of one's own true nature to become experienced and enacted in the world. This is variously known as Enlightenment, Nirvana, Presence, and the "Here and Now".

My Interests

Generally I enjoy motion pictures (this includes TV), music, nature, guitar, comedy, photography, videography, composition of all sorts, visual art, film-making (or at least thinking about it), the written word, concerts, classic and modern video gaming, stories, sleeping (AKA time travel), kind folks, kind chuds, open minds, good times, good buzzes, cusses, and great beauty. Can ya dig? If so the tree nursery's looking for workers.

I'd like to meet:

For real though, as long as you aren't rediculously close-minded, hateful, pessimistic, and judgemental I'm you're man. I dig loving, caring, humble, open-minded, positive, chill folks who don't bring drama, but do bring the funk (and the fun).As far as famous people go I'd like to meet or wish I could've met Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Bill Murray, Stanley Kubrick, Will Ferrill, Kevin Smith, Johnny Depp, any member of the Beatles, Mick Jager, Keith Richards, Sid Haig, Buddah, any member o' Phish, Jimi Hendrix, William Wordsworth, Les Claypool, Bill Nershi, Phil Lesh, Jerry Garcia, Bobby Weir, Thomas Jefferson, and Jack Black. I'd like to meet a lot of others, but these folks are golden gods in my book. I also wish that I could've seen numerous bands in concert that I'll never get a chance to see thanks to bad blood, and everyone's favorite natural occurance good ol' death. Some of them being: Sublime, the Beatles (Why would anyone shoot John Lennon?), Blind Melon, AIC, Bob Marley and the Wailers, The Band, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash and Company, Pink Floyd, The Blues Brothers, and the Grateful Dead. There's others as well. Also, how fucking sweet would it be if Bill and Ted popped out of nowhere w/ kick ass Rufus in a Telephone booth. That would rock more than pirate ship in a tropical storm.

Music:

I have mad love for Under the Influence of Giants, The Grateful Dead, PHISH, "THE MONSTER MASH," Hendrix, Rat Dog, Phil Lesh and Friends, The Dead/Other Ones, Oysterhead, Trey Anastasio Band, String Cheese Incident, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Mike Gordon and Leo Kottke, Leo Kottke, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Otis Redding, John Fahey, Sublime, Neil Young, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Keller Williams, Vida Blue (Page is the shit, and Oteil Burbridge is one hell of a bass player!), New Monsoon, Mike Gordon (solo), Leftover Salmon, Red Hot Chili Peps, Tenacious D, The Who, The Guess Who, India Arie, Pink Floyd, The Big Wu, The Word, Moe, Poop Hole Brown, Ray Charles, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Slightly Stoopid, Alice in Chains, Guitar Hero covers, The Velvet Underground, 36 Mafia, The Talking Heads, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Les Claypool's many projects, Skip James, Eric Clapton, Cream, CCR, The Allman Brothers, CSNY, Bob Segar and the Silver Bullet Band ( NO "TURN THE PAGE," OR "OLD TIME ROCK N ROLL"), Oasis, Weezer's first two albums, Umphrey's Mcgee, Steve Miller Band, Fat Maw Rooney, a lil' Steely Dan, The Bee Gees, James Brown, J. Holiday, Chicago before they stopped rockin' and started sucking (for example they started sucking when the performed songs like "You're My Inspiration"), The Samples, DMB, The Band (what band?), Stevie Wonder, Nirvana, Motown, Bob Dylan, Soundgarden, Chris Cornell, Rage Against the Machine, Amfibian, Common Rider, The Dismemberment Plan, The White Stripes, Tom Petty, Santana, The Everyone Orchestra, Radiohead, Coldplay, Cat Stevens, Blackalicious, Atmosphere, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Incubus, The Doors, Kanye West, War, John Brown's Body, Jethro Tull, Jim Croce, John Lennon, Johnny "the Man in Black" Cash, Biggie, 2pac, Snoop, Dr. Dre, The D.O.C., Eminem, Johnny Cage (Mortal Kombat great), Pearl Jam, old Metallica, Blind Melon, David Bowie, "Puttin on the Ritz," "The Safety Dance," "Ice, Ice, Baby," "How Bizarre," "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" by Wang Chung, "Love Shack" by the B52's ("Hurry up and bring your juke - box - money." Fred has the best voice ever!). This list goes on much like the music (it never stopped). Some great lyrics relating to music: "Let there be songs, to fill the air," "Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock - my soul," "If you get confused, listen to the music play," "One good thing about music, is that when it hits you feel no pain." Not mentioned here are the many musicians and songs that have fallen out of my favor over my 20 something years.

"Consider this a divorce!" I generally dig most futuristic movies like The Running Man, The Fifth Element, Code 46, The Island, Demolition Man, Minority Report, The 6th Day, Judge Dredd, and 1984 when I make it!)) Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale, The Godfather, Donnie Brasco, A Christmas Story, Ghostbusters, Kingpin, Groundhog Day, Scrooged, Caddyshack 1, The Blues Brothers, Short Circuit 1 and 2, Animal House, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Online, Coming to America, Changing Places, The Hills have Eyes, National Lampoons/Chevy Chase's Vacation series, Nothing But Trouble, Funny Farm, Quick Change, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Singin' in the Mother Fucking Rain (that's right haters!), Max, Little Shop of Horrors, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Little Monsters, Fargo, Big Trouble in Little China, Billy Madison, Poop Hole Brown, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, Airheads, Coneheads, The Wedding Singer, Knocked Up, Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer, The Sea Inside, Grandma's Boy, The Harry Potter flicks, and I'll stop there for now cause I can go on and on. This list is dynamic.

Television:

At one time or another I had totally lost faith in television. For some reason, thanks to cable, the greatest invention ever (the DVR!!! (Not really, but for the purpose of these parenthetical comments it is)), and TV on DVD I'm a television junky while I'm not getting funky. Some favorites; Dexter, Flight of the Conchords, Entourage, Live from Abbey Road, Who Want's to be a Superhero?, Chappelle's Show, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, South Park, Reno 911, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, America's Got Talent, Arrested Development, Poop Hole Brown, the Sopranos (each hour long episode is better than most movies!), Stella, Family Guy, Austin City Limits, American Dad, Insomniac, the power hour (The Simpsons and That 70's Show), shitty/hilarious infomercials (especially ones w/ Matthew Lesko!!!), Cheaters, Lost in Space, Robot Chicken, Cops, Heroes, Black.White, Unan1mous, Pirate Master, Survivorman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien (my favorite talk show since the age of like 10(I miss Andy Richter)), new to me Family Feud from the 70's featuring one of the greatest game show hosts ever (Mr. Richard Dawson), The Office (both versions), Blind Date, In Living Color, Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, American Idol, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Last Comic Standing, Weeds, The Legend of Zelda, My Name is Earl, What the Morning?, Howard TV, Lucky Louie, Greg the Bunny, classic funnier than ever Nickelodeon game shows like those on Nick GAS! (Nick Arcade, Get the Picture, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Finder's Keepers, Double Dare(not 2000 which sucks)), Beauty and the Geek, The Pick Up Artist, and Trading Spouses. That's pretty much it. Most of the rest is crap. I can't even believe I enjoy this much TV. It's an f'ing lot. I also wish there was a network that played shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, and Welcome Freshmen. That'd be one sweet trip down memory lane! Where the hell is this much needed network. I'll start a petition. I'd like to see some old episodes of Get Smart too. That show was awesome. I wish my shoe was a telephone.

Books:

The dictionary, Grapes of Wrath, 1984, Warriors Don't Cry: The Battle for Desegregation, A Wizard of Earthsea, Maus II, Poop Hole Brown, and The Invisible Man (Which surprising isn't about an actual Invisible Man, but rather a black man). As for short stories and poetry I dig anything by Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Wordsworth, or "Standing Bear." If you want to read a great anti-war short story check out Guy de Maupassant's "Mother Savage." Don't forget, the romantics are the bomb (I'm not talking about books w/ Fabio on the cover!). The same goes for books w/ great pictures, huge print, and no more than 35 words per page! Wouldn't this category be more appropriate if it was called the written word instead of books? There is so many other works of written worth that aren't necessarily books like Thich Nhat Hahn's "Interbeing," or any of a volume of philosophical readings I've done out of text books. Seriously, the Allegory of the Cave is awesome. I suppose some of those did come from books at some point, but still. On top of all this I have read many excellent short stories and poems. Their names slip my mind, though. Cathedral is good.

Heroes:

Pricasso, not Picasso, but Pricasso. Look 'im up on the 'net.
