About Me

One day in Sioux City, Jungle/Techno record spinner and producer DJ POYO and college freshman THE TOP CIVILIAN decided they were destined to start a band. Both having apparently alluded jail and death long enough to live to meet each other, christened The Gateway Drug in the year 2000. A classmate of The Top Civilian at Briar Cliff, SPLIFF C. joined the posse and the original addiction was born. The trio’s first effort 'Five Finger Discount Syndrome' was stolen by all their friends and enemies and turned into a city-wide phenomenon...probably. Spliff has since relocated back home to Denver, Colorado and now to San Francisco while another powerhouse emcee became a member of The Gatewaqy Drug. MC BREW- formerly a Punk Rock skateboardin' b-boy band frontman- now completes the group and makes The Gateway Drug a force to be wreckoned with in Sioux City, Iowa. You can catch any of the three Sioux City natives and residents at your neighborhood house party, bar, or any other kinda show you wanna throw. The two emcees and one DJ are known for their funkdafied jungle beats, dope freestyles, philosophical musings, wild instrumentation, and off-the-wall lyrics...The Gateway Drug is an epidemic threatening to take over the whole world. Get a hit right now. Be on the lookout for The Gateway Drug's forthcoming album 'Times New Roman' and the re-release of the 'Five Finger Discount Syndrome' mixtape. The Gateway Drug has rocked and shared stages at Red's Pub, The Chesterfield, Grandview Park, Nippers, Lewis Bowl Annex, Cattle Club Collective, and Morningside College with Biggz, Blaze-1, Blue Felix, Chad Severson, Destino, DJ BowLz, DJ Butters, DJ Last Word, DJ Richie Daggers, DJ Ron Gotti, Eboli, Ernie Rhodes, HawnSawmp, Horizon, Ill Chemistry, Izzy Dunfore, John Jubilee, Kanser, Kelly Quinn, Kisor Flowsay, Lindsey Davis, MC Tom the Bartender, MC_Loki, Of Their Blood, Philcoholic, Ridiculous, Scap Chapel, Sick Dose, Soulcrate Music, Tha Family, Tha Protige, The Warm Storms, Three Dog Knife, Truth & ADapt, Vinchie, Violent Design, and probably more!!
