Born 1981, you can say Dj Blakghost was born with turntables in his blood. Blakghost have been analyzing his father's skills on the turntables since he was five. His father been djing since Blakghost was born. In 1989 at the age of 7, he made his first mixtape with the knowledge of music his father taught him (hot shit by the way). Djing was a hobby for Blakghost until christmas of 1990 he got his first turntable set. Blakghost was making tapes everyday from then on.
Djing took a twist in Blakghost' life around June 1996. At age 14, his father put his skills to work. Every friday and saturday, Blakghost found himself djing locally in New York. His first real gig was in Yonkers at a Club called Ups and Downs (don't ask...lol). Blakghost speciality was old school and new school music that everyone in that club enjoyed. Mind you again, Blakghost was only 14 rockin' the grown and sexy. After a month being there, he moved over to the club where his father started at. Laconia Inn on 227th & Laconia Avenue was the spot to be at. When his father had gigs outside of Laconia Inn, Blakghost would hold that spot down.
1998 became a busy year for Blakghost. He found himself djing 2 gigs almost every weekend. His hours was 3pm to 9pm, and the second gig was from 9pm until whatever time people wanted to go home. You ask yourself how can Blakghost do it. My answer is, "Its nothing". Dj's have partners. Blakghost partner was his father, THAT'S IT. Its was crazy but money was made.
Around 1999 at age 17, Papa ghost (lol) got him a stable gig playing at AJ's Palace on 221th and White Plains Road, Bronx. Friday and Saturday was his nights. From round robins to ordinary nights, Blakghost made it happened. It went on until his departure in 2001 for other bigger events.
From 2001 to 2003, Blakghost was djing locally around the Bronx boro, until 2004 when he got another gig with one of his peoples to dj at his showcase from time to time. It is when he met an inspired mc by the name of Unstable. He was under Platinum Dice Entertainment. After numerous performances, Unstable asked Blakghost to be his dj. Without a doubt, he tooked the offer. From 2004 to 2005, Blakghost made five mixtapes within the foundation, but unfortunalty, none of them got pushed to the streets. With that disappointment, he got down with Unstable's foundation, Hiz and Herz Entertainment, where he made a stack of mixtapes where people now know he name Dj Blakghost aka Ol Skool Nu Skool. Stay tune, Blakghost got more in store for ya.
