Carlos Ramos Band at Northwoods 02-09-07
By Steve Blaze
Rock, Funk, Jazz, R&B, and Disco join together in this relatively new band known as The Carlos Ramos Band. Former Nick Danger lead guitarist Chad Burton heads this crew down a plethora of funky ditties. I’ve always been an admirer of Chad for his guitar skills and the overall entertainment value he puts in to every gig he does. Chad’s vocal range will really take you by surprise. Chad has also brought with him from Nick Danger drummer Joe Venegas. Joe’s one of the region’s top drummers around and lays down the groove like no other. THERE'S MORE TO THIS STORY! CLICK HERE!
Rock n’ Roll Revisited by Egnaro
By Peter O’Conner
Every once in a while there is a band that helps us all remember how cool it is to be a rockers. South Side rockers, Egnaro do this with their debut album, “The Panties that Your Mother Laid Out For You.â€
Egnaro’s album is trash Rock at its best. With songs like ‘Cut You†and “On The Weekend,†Egnaro’s distorted, up-tempo ballads would make any member of Britney Spears’ entourage cringe and admit defeat. They are the band that true rockers have been waiting for. Listening to Egnaro’s new album brings the listener to the cold fact that Rock and Roll will never die. THERE'S MORE TO THIS STORY! Robby Celestin To Release New Solo CD
By Lars Van Heineken
I am a big fan of this guy since I caught up with him a few years ago at a small local watering hole. He was doing an acoustic thing (2 man), and his vocal range and plain soul of his voice just blew me away, a lot of heart as well. I am talking about Robby Celestin, most people know him from fronting the popular local band, TimePeace. He has a forthcoming solo CD due out in the near future of 2007. If it’s anything like “Rhythmic Pictures†the TimePeace 2001 release, in which he wrote or co-wrote 9 of the 12 songs. It will be a popular listen for Lars Van Heineken. That disc should have created more of....... THERE'S MORE TO THIS STORY! CLICK HERE!
What Legends Are Made Of.... Jerry A. Clemons II
By PAUL CZAPKOWICZ
While most musicians might prefer to spend their breaks between sets relaxing or returning cell phone messages, not Jerry Clemons.
The burly bass player probably best known for his work with popular local band Nick Danger can be seen socializing with the crowd during intermissions, most likely enjoying a Crown Royal and Diet Coke. Or make that a "Sarsaparilla", as he prefers to call it.
"I let people know I appreciate that they came out," Clemons said. "Lord knows if they don't come see us we don't get paid."
Clemons got the performing bug from his father, Jerry Sr., who passed away in 2005. He performed his style of rockabilly music in the region for years as part of Jerry Clemons and the Sinstars and used to take his son to gigs as a young boy. "When I was 11 he bought me and my buddy matching outfits and we went out and did a Christmas set and we made $70 between the two of us," Clemons said. "That about ruined me. I had to get in the music business after that." THERE'S MORE TO THIS STORY! CLICK HERE!
HOOSIER HIGHWAY BAND AT NORTHWOODS 02-03-07
By Steve Blaze
It takes time to put together a band that really gels. Each musician must go through the trials and tribulations of different attempts at success. Hoosier Highway band has reached the point at where everything seems to be falling in to place. Now I’ve never been known as much of a country guy but in the last couple of years I’ve been exposed to some of the best around the region. I have acquired a unique taste for country music now that has eluded me in years past. Especially live country.
Hoosier Highway takes that local country experience up a notch with a full stage presence. These guys have a pro all the way setup with lighting and sound. THERE'S MORE TO THIS STORY! CLICK HERE!
