Your first impression of meeting me may be that I’m a little quiet, reserved, calm and reflective. Though you might very well be surprised when you get to know me, then read some of the things I’ve written and realise I’m not so quiet after all!
I love my 2 cats - Misty & Tigger, they surprise me with their daily antics and eccentricities. I’m very family orientated - you might as well call me a home-body! But I am hard-working and dedicated, as well as being a bit of a single-minded, multi-tasking perfectionist! (LOL)
Through personal tribulations not limited to an employment sabbatical during most of ’07 followed by a career side-step, I am not the same person I was a year ago and certainly won't be suffering fools gladly... But I am all the more stronger for my trials and experience.
As we approach August ’08, it has been 2 years since I started writing poetry again after a 6yr hiatus. I’m often asked why did I stop writing? But I guess what it really came down to was one of those things happened…
‘Life Happened.’
As always, I thank God for the muse He sent to show me my way. I now see a realm of infinite possibilities and opportunities available to me and hope to help inspire others to see and achieve their dreams, as I am going for mine.
My heart-felt Thank You’s go out to my INSPIRED (& THE PEOPLES LOUNGE) Family – my close friends and supporters who’ve always believed in me when sometimes I didn’t believe in myself (you know who you are too!). These special people who have helped me grow into what I am becoming now and of course to the new friends destined to cross my path in the future. (Are you one of them?)
Just remember... FAITH makes all things possible. HOPE makes all things work and LOVE makes all things beautiful. May you have all of these as you continue your journey In ‘Double Ohh Great’.
This year I’m keeping it moving and taking it to the next level!

“HUG”
All he ever wanted was a hug
Just some form of affection to show he was loved
All he ever wanted was a hug
Maybe that would’ve stopped him from becoming a thug
All he ever wanted was a hug
So he could know his father really did care
All he ever wanted was a hug
Maybe he wouldn’t have got caught up in a gang life snare
All he ever wanted was a hug
Maybe that would have told him someone was there
When his father died
His anger took hold
Made him so fierce
Made him act so bold
Hitting out at the nearest person
Damaging the nearest thing
Blind rage and no consequence
Like boxing invisible enemies in an empty ring
Made him hunger for a different life
All he ever wanted was a hug
All he wanted to do was live without strife
A downward spiral, a trip to hell
Unless someone can step in
Tell him, ‘Trust me and all will be well.’
But why did it take him going to jail
Whilst inside to meet victims of crime
To learn that his actions have consequences
That taking a life means losing yours doing time.
But it took a victim to show him
All he ever needed was a hug
He got that from a stranger
Who showed him there is such a thing as love.
If such a simple act of compassion
Is all it can take…
Then let’s talk and let me give you a hug
See what a difference, together we can make.

My Interests

Reading… alot.

Writing…a lot more than before.

Getting to meet & know creative and kindred souls.

Listening to and appreciating all sorts of music.

free profile counter from CodesToGo.com

I'd like to meet:

People like me!

Honest, open, like-minded people who can hold a conversation, because I need a distraction sometimes. I love a bit of a chit chat when I'm not writing or watching movies.

I like people who are not easily offended (I’ve written a few racy poems that might get you a little hot under the collar) and those who like to have a really good laugh and love music, TV, Film and reading as much as I do.

Should you choose to send me a friend request after a visit, please think about sending me a short message too as I’d like to know that there is more to you than an anonymous friend request. I’d like to know there are ‘real people’ behind the pictures and fancy profiles with depth and character.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed your visit and feel welcomed whatever you choose to do.

Join me on the People's Lounge, where my TPL April Write anthology in celebration of National Poetry Month this year will be published.

Music:

Hip Hop, R'n'B, Old Skool 80-90's Soul, Rare Groove, Neo Soul, Jazz and Blues, a bit of Reggae & Bashie, Funky House & Garage & Drum ‘n’ Bass.

I'm inspired by the upcoming and established talent out there doing their thing and making a difference... Like my girl Obenewa & my boy Zalon and of course my old mates Ty & Bunny and the many others waiting to be discovered and make their artistic presence felt.

THIS YEAR IS OUR YEAR!

TIME TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I’m currently reading the Dark Hunter & Dream Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon
On my list to read soon… Pearl Jnr ‘Black Women Need Love Too’, Joe Vitale’s ‘Hypnotic Writing’, ‘The Poetry Home Repair Manual’ by Ted Kooser and Susan Jeffers ‘Feel the fear and do it anyway’ and the forthcoming book by my best friend Donna Parkinson! (You go for it girl!)

We've been through so much over the last few years and we’ve still come out TOGETHER as a family on the other side.

God for keeping us going when we thought it impossible.
